When I went down the hole in the stump it was just an empty void. I saw someone else had this problem and used right shift + home to reload but the area is still a void.

Yeah, it happened to me, too. I found that post you're talking about, but I guess the bug hasn't been fixed yet? No matter how many times I reset the scene, it doesn't fix the stump for me, either.
