Regarding NFTs and the hosting of games involving NFTs

I saw the itch Twitter post and commend the simple and straighforward condemnation of NFTs. There are some games up on here that apparently involve NFTs, and I can imagine that number will grow.

What does the site plan to do? Some thoughts - perhaps having a clear statement and letting people make their own minds up is a sensible thing - perhaps having the tweet written up as a few paragraphs and made clearly visible on the site somewhere, or even with games that mention NFTs would be appropriate; perhaps putting out one email to all members to help raise awareness would be a really positive move to get out the message too.

Equally you could take a harder stance and have a reporting system, or a community-led team that weeds out such games, if it was decided to ban them from the site altogether.

No matter what happens going forward, I'm just happy to see a big site like this openly taking a stance, and helping shut this crap down before too many people get sucked into it. I don't even use this site much and I was moved to log in and write this, because technology needs to be used for good, and this obviously is not that.

There is a reporting system, I have reported the more obvious scammers, but I would have liked to not see scammers in the first place…

Does that mean that the site has a policy where they will take down games that use NFTs, if those games are reported to them?

That is my hope. You can report games by going to the main page of the game and scrolling to the very bottom. There’s a small “Report” link that opens up a form.

NFT games are not against the TOS. If it is legit the site can't do anything.

Games about NFTs? no Actual NFTs? very much a scam

They're literally not against the rules of the site, though.  Unless that changes, Itch is not going to do anything about them, so there is no reason to report them.

Here's hoping they update the T.O.S!
