I have been working on an adventure game in the style of zelda, but with cats(its winning idea right :P )
Here are a few screen shots that show a little bit of the forest.

I originally started playing around with the idea ages ago, made a few little things but was not sure where I wanted to take the idea so I just put it on the backburner until I was sure of where I was going with it.
Here is an old video showing the hunting mechanic.

Hunting has been made a little easier since this video. Hunting is one of the many quests you have to fulfil for the colony of cats in order to progress the story.

And here is a trip to the Spirit Realm.

In the spirit realm you will find the spirits of dead cats who will teach you new skills to help you on your journey.
The game is split into territories where you are trapped to part of the world until you complete the areas dungeon before being able to progress to the next area. And I have most of the first area finished now, I am just missing the dungeon of this area(which will probably be the biggest chunk of work in this point of the game)

This looks fantastic!!

Thanks for the kind words.
I have been sick with covid so I didn't have the mental strength to do any work on Paws for Adventure for the better half of two weeks but I am back at it again.
I have almost finished the first half of the Forest Temple
Here is a small video showing the gameplay of this section, I still need to add sound effects and special effects to some parts but its coming along.

I love that paw and backflip animation you have! The game also looks really great. I love this 2D/3D feel you have going. Keep it up!

So the rest of the forest temple has been finished and now I just have to finish the boss battle. I'm thinking that once the boss battle is finished I will tidy up all the loose ends make a game page and release a demo, Is that a good idea? I am still unsure  of the best ways to release on itch.
So far the boss room has been finished, and the boss is loading in, I still need to draw all his frames of animation though and sort out his AI

The pillars need moving closer to the centre as I want the Eagle to smash those when he attacks you and the whole area needs a bit of prettying up a little but its a good start.

Work continues on the boss battle. I think the area is a little prettier now.  and the boss can be killed and has two attacks that can hurt the player so the actual battle works.
I have the scene that leads into the battle half finished as well so its going well. Unfortunately that is my last day off this week so progress will be slowed until next week.

The full intro of Paws for Adventure that leads right into gameplay.

This took me two full days to make and thats all my free time this week :P

So I have been working on a lot of new features since last week

First and most important is the shop.
I have both buying and selling working, but the shop can only be accessed by completing Mints questline first.

So you need to survive without at first. All items are purchased with Catnip leaves(the money in paws for adventure)

Second is the items in shop. Med mix(recovers 2 hearts), Antidote Oil(removes poison, but as of yet nothing inflicts poison....I will try and fix that next week :P )and the strangest of items the Charm Balm.
The Charm Balm makes you sparkle and other cats respond differently to you. Here is an example.

And Last of all I made the last couple of areas in the forest making it complete,

And thats all for this week. I probably won't get a lot done for the rest of the week(I normally have mon, tue, wed off and work longer hours the rest of the week)
But I am hoping to finish off a few small things after work.

Well its been a slow week of development for me.
I added a new page to the menu to show what songs have been learnt.

I also finished up a lot of the finishing touches in areas and fixed all the remaining collision issues

And I suppose the most interesting is I now have the start screen partially working.

I intend on having it cycle through different areas in the forest(but with cocoa in screen at each location)
apart from a few errors the first section of the game is complete. I just need to tidy it up and get it ready for demo release.

Done a lot of bug fixing, changing little things to make things a little more user friendly and also added Tutorials explaining how to do all the tasks you will need to do.
I also added a scene at the end of the demo explaining the plot. I did it all in black and white because its meant to be in the past.
(Fun fact, the engine I am using has no shaders to create this effect so I had to remake all my textures, and double the area for this effect, but I think the effect was worth the effort)

I also added the map(probably the most tedious task I have had to do so far)

The demo is now 100% playable from start to finish
First test playthroughs of the demo have been completed. My personal time came  in at 1 hour 10 minutes which is quite long for a demo but I think it shows everything the game has to offer and ties up quite nicely at the end. I imagine that time length will be much longer for other people that don't know where they are going or what they are doing, two hours at least.... A two hour demo? is that to long for a demo?

Well the last week has been spent making this trailer, especially the static images used in it(I am not an artist :P )
