i havnt been able to find any upgrades outside of gun upgrades and hp boosts. theres a whole bunch of ledges that i just barley cant jump up onto and theres no other paths to take. idk what to do please help

Where exactly in the game are you? Are you still in the caves area, or did you reach the Summit? Have you killed either of the two boss fights included in the demo?
