Updates? Refund?

So its been awhile with no updates(atleast nowhere i can see them), everything if focused on the kpop otome, and november 2017 is days away. The lack of updates, or anything on this game is extremely offputting. Are you going to make this release date? If not, I'd really love a refund. My excitement for this game is kinda down the drain. It doesn't look good when a game days from release is getting barely any attention by its creators.

Edit 11/4/17: You guys updated BTS otome just a day ago, your twitter has daily updates (completely based around your BTS otome despite this games incoming release), and still no answer? dude c'mon its November.. Please just give me a refund. I honestly don't want this game anymore.

Please be patient. I am hyped for the game just as much as you were. On Kickstarter they released this post in the comments a week ago:

"It's being worked on but Steam now requires a two week approval period for games so it may be out this month on Itch before Steam. Thank you for your patience! As soon as it's out on Steam we will start sending out the keys for it!"

So hopefully we can look forward to playing it sometime the end of the month.

The comment on Kickstarter seems to be talking about the MD:SoA remake, since they posted in response to questions about the release of the Delux Edition. It’s entirely unclear if they’re releasing Echos at the same time.

As a Paypal backer I can tell you that they had to push back the release of Echoes to November 2017 due to some circumstances. But honestly I'm worried at the fact that there hasn't been another update for Echoes to confirm that it is still on target to be released this month. It's already the 20th, I just want to know the progress, if there is a problem that may set it back again they should let us know, or if it still going to be released this month then confirm it....

The steam page that they put up, recently,  for Echoes has December 2017 on it.

The thing that bothers me the most though is the ever shrinking content promised for echoes.  The kickstarter said 15 to 25 hours.  This page, I think, at one time said 15 plus hours and now it's down to 10 plus hours.  This page says 24 plus endings and yet the steam page says "two distinct canon endings per character".  Maybe there will be numerous short, bad or early, ends as well to get to 24 endings.  Also, based on the steam page, there will only be 10 CG's, which will be done by the new artists.  This probably means that the mini route/s won't have CGs.

So it's been pushed back again for December? Maybe it's due to Steam's approval process so it has a later date (wishful thinking perhaps) than when they would release on itchio? Still what you mentioned about the shrinking content worries me too, since on Kickstarter the developers expressed that they wanted to move on from the Mystic Destinies series after Echoes and MDSOA deluxe, I really hope they are not cutting down content to get Echoes as a means to reach that goal. I know that they as a company have the right to make decisions what they do, but I have to wonder, why would a team as small as it is be trying to take on the development of multiple projects at the same time, I don't understand why they've chosen now to start trying to work on TTEOTS when it makes more sense (to me at least) to put all of their limited resources into finishing MDSOA rewards and Echoes? They could always pick up TTEOTS later? I really hope that they give the mini routes at least one CG but now that I think about it, when I played MDSOA I don't remember it being particularly CG heavy, a lot of the time the sprites themselves had their appearances changed for different situations (the backgrounds were also very detailed) and it was still enjoyable so perhaps it will be the same for this game....

(1 edit)

They have just sent out an update to backers on the status of Echoes and MDSOA deluxe. They plan to release them both in December (so it seems Echoes did get pushed back again a bit), but they will probably be out on Itchio first as Steam has a two-week delay on game titles.

Wish they'd said something on here considering I'm not a backer, but I have preordered the game. rip lol

Yeah to be honest they should have been giving regular updates here (you put up money before they had even released the product or even a demo so you have just as much right to be informed about the progress of the game) but to be honest the updates to the backers themselves were sparse and infrequent, instead they were mostly posting on their social media accounts about a completely different game that they were working on. I've played MDSOA and enjoyed it so I believe Echoes will be good too (I'm looking forward to playing as Aurelia, the MC from MDSOA was cool but Aurelia is A+) but they really have to work on communicating with those who chose to support their projects financially in much better fashion, especially if a problem arises while working on that said project. At least it is still going to be released I guess.

Disappointing news - MDE is going to be further pushed back for release in 2018 (with no estimate on the date). They are still going to release deluxe version of MDSOA this month but MDE is going to pushed back. While I know things happen during development of games, but honestly I think a lot of the reason that MDE has been delayed once again like this is because of them using some of their time and resources to work on the TTEOTS game which they should have just picked up later. If they had just stuck to MDSOA deluxe and MDE I think they might have been able to had these games out this year. Honestly they seem to promise a lot then under deliver because they take on more than they can handle at a time. By the way they have said they will be looking into 'staggered' refunds for those who back MDE and no longer want to wait for the game or the rewards.  Those who pre-paid and want a refund should go here (they did only send this to the backers but since you guys paid already too you should be able to get refunds in my opinion). I don't think I will ask for one since I've waited all this time and while I am disappointed at how they have handled things, I do believe they will eventually release MDE. MDSOA was also released late but they did release it eventually and I reallly still want to play MDE.

I'm usually a patient person, but tbh// I'm just gonna go for the refund. The feeling that they want nothing to do with this worldbuild just keeps growing stronger, and the fact that you're having to communicate for them is sad. Thank you for doing it though. I greatly appreciate it!

I'm disappointed that after all this time they still couldn't leave a single message on this board.

I completely understand, after echoes is released I think I will probably just stay clear of any of the future projects they release afterwards. Even if I have liked their past work, the way they handle communication as well as other things is ridiculous.

Gosh, I thought they said they learned from MDSOA and so I defended them. But when updates stop coming with no explanation, I just can't. You can't get forgiveness if you never ask for it. If you don't ask for it, you must not want it. That's a big dismissal of everyone who's supported them throughout delays that are common to indie companies. I guess we're a bit worthless, aren't we?

Maybe they will attract enough fans via the fame of BTS, keep them with their writing, and then hire a project manager. The talent is undeniably there, but the management and courtesy to fans is untenably lacking. I truly wish them luck, I truly want them to succeed, but once they take someone's money they have to at least TRY to stop behaving worse than tons of amateur developers out there.

i would prefer at this point if the bts otome does not get that much fame. Its so clearly the game that theyre favoring rn it brings a bad taste in my mouth. I'm a little salty loool. Who can blame me tho? the most recent post they've made was 5 days ago, and it was for the bts otome. Like... awesome. Theres a whole board complaining about your lack of communication, but just push it away because that solves the problem. No need to make a statement, or anything.

It truly does seem we are worthless.
Also still haven't gotten that refund even tho I gave the exact email I use for this account. Cool. I'm guessing they're also expecting everyone to just look at this board if they want a refund to find the link. Cause they didn't stop me from trying for the refund so it seems to be allowed for prepurchasers (if they can somehow find the link)

I just received an update from the developer on the staus of the game as a paypal backer, copied and pasted below:

Mystic Destinies: Deluxe Edition has been delayed. January 2018 is our new estimated release date.

Mystic Destinies: Echoes store pages are now updated with an estimated Q2 release date. The refund page for backers who wish to withdraw their pledge closes January 31, so don't forget to sign up by then if you wish to have a refund.

Our website is getting a revamp soon to include centralized information for each game. We will continue updating when we have new information to share with you. Thanks for your patience.

Well at least  it seem's they are still planning to release it...eventually...

This is still horrible, and extremely sketchy. Better than nothing though.

So they're releasing the prologue demo TTEOTS today. so again they put Echoes on the backburner for this game that got backed over a year ago now. The devs don't care about anything but this BTS game. So that's an obvious thing.

They promised refunds for preorders on Jan. 4th. Has anyone actually gotten their money back yet?  I can't get them to respond to any communications. Still waiting to hear back on a PayPal dispute.

I was a kickstarter backer who signed up for a refund the first day they offered them and I just got it yesterday.  If they're going through them in order then it might be a little while yet.

Well, I had to escalate to a PayPal dispute, but I finally got a refund... not happy, not planning on giving Aeon Dreams any more money in the future =/

I was promised a refund for an preorder as well and haven't received it.  I'm thinking of starting down the road of a paypal dispute if something doesn't happen soon.  They should not have put the game up for pre-order in the first place.

Yes i saw something about that on their tumblr. I'm happy at least that they are still clearly going to release Echoes as some point but honestly they need to do something about their communication with those who back their projects and perhaps look into how they prioritize their work.

They still haven't given me a refund yet.  I have zero goodwill left for these developers.

Did you try opening a dispute through PayPal? I was finally able to get a refund that way.

Yeah I tried, but it's been more then 180 days since I purchased the pre-order, I was a very foolish early adopter when they first put it up on,  and it seems like they killed the dispute from their end and at this stage I don't think they have any intention of refunding me.  I feel like I've been scammed by these people.

Oh wow, them actively refusing to refund you is a much bigger deal then them just "forgetting" to give the promised refunds, especially if you waited more than 180 days because they said they'd refund you without you having to jump through those hoops. Do you still have the email they sent where they said they were working with to refund all preorders? Maybe try contacting support and find out if that's true and if they can get the ball rolling on their end. I'd assume admins would be interested to learn that a developer is actively scamming users on their platform and implicitly blaming them ("we are working with itch to refund all preorders within the week" -> no refunds after months -> must be itch's fault).

In fact, I'll send an email myself, but you should, too, since you're the one still out your money.

Yeah, never got it either. Gave them multiple emails, with the one I use for this account they emailed back stating that I hadn't purchased with this email, sent them two others, both my PP account emails, and never even got a response back for those.  Think at some point they just stopped looking at the refund request.

I only commented a short while ago, but my frustration is at an all time high. tfw look at blog for a written update on the game, and there's no mentions of incoming game release, but there is BTS music video/story analysis...

Atleast it looks like they're developing it on twitter, but from what I'm picking up it seems it actually isn't very far in development at all// Which feels abit crazy considering this game has missed multiple dates.

(1 edit)

I contacted, and they said that while they can't issue refunds themselves due to how payments were processed, "We've reached out to them [Aeon Dream Studios] directly to see what the status of the project and the refunds are."

(1 edit)

I got my refund at last.  Cornber, I hope you get your refund soon too.  Thanks so much, teatime, for your help with contacting as I think that played a big part in the refund actually happening.  I won't be purchasing any more products from these developers though.  It's not worth the hassle, also I think that now they have monetized some of the BTS content, that I believe they don't have a licence for, they are a lawsuit waiting to happen and, surely, have now breached's TOS.

Glad to hear it!

I could care less about BTS so I haven't been following that stuff -_- But I was under the impression that they had made the demo as a proof of concept to get a license and that going ahead with making the whole game meant they were successful with that. Did I miss something?  Seems risky for them to sell the game if whatever official person they reached out to was aware they were doing it but had said no.

(1 edit) (+2)

The demo page for the BTS game says this,

"This is an unofficial, fan created sci fi BTS-inspired visual novel game demo by Aeon Dream Studios. We are not affiliated with BigHit Entertainment or BTS in any way."

I would imagine if they had permission by now they would have updated the description.   The google play store version also has this statement.

Any idea when their "Q2 2018" release date will be? Or when we will get an update at all? They've been updating their BTS vn very often and are active online regarding that, but any messages about MDE goes unanswered+unpublished and updates are non-existent despite multiple push-backs.  Additionally on their twitter account it seems like it's still in the early stages of development? Has anyone heard any info/updates/anything at all about it from the devs?

Supposedly now they're saying September 2018, so we shall see.

(1 edit)

I have another backer update from them here whichgives an estimation of the release date for Echoes:-

Hello all,

It’s been a while, hasn’t it? Apologies for the delays in updates, but we’ve been working hard in our little writer holes on Echoes.

Some of you may not have read that only part of the team is working on To the Edge of the Sky and that the rest is working on Echoes.

Estimated dates are:

  • Echoes release is set for September
  • Shipping and sending out digital rewards will start in September

So it seems they are still going to be releasing Echoes this year least...better late then at never I guess?

Glad it's getting released, but anyone have any news on what day of September? Its the 12th now, and there hasn't been any exact day given. I'm feeling a little iffy considering this isn't the first time they've given us a month, and failed to reach it, or make any announcement of why.

(1 edit)

It's been delayed again (they've just put an update on their site), unfortunately the CG artist had a death in their family, so understandably they would need time away from working, so they have pushed the release to October.

Has there been any new updates? Octobers over with, and they still have [Release Date September] on their profile?

I'll just copy and paste the link for the latest update from their website here:

It seems a lot of things have happened....
