There are downloads for my purely browser game.

Hello,

I have recently released a game that runs purely in browser, but for some reasons, there are 3 downloads to the game. I am a bit worried since I never intended to make my game downloadable.

I am just wondering if anyone has any idea as to what is happening.

Thank you!

P.S. For reference, it is the most recent game I made.

When someone is using the Itch.io app, every time they play a browser game, it is being downloaded in the background, so it is cached and can be played without an internet connection. From what I remember this is counted as a download in the analytics.

Oh, I see. I thought that someone was getting my code for an instant, haha.

Thank you so much for the reply!

Every time the page is loaded, it is downloaded into a temporary location (maybe RAM, maybe it gets swapped). That connection can be intercepted, though, and the page can then be downloaded, to be stored indefinitely. There’s nothing you can do to prevent that.
