We'll keep this post up-to-date with known issues and their potential resolutions. If you have any issues running the game or encounter problems during gameplay, let us know here - if you have a crash, the game produces an error.txt file which would help in diagnosing it, so please post some of the error.txt text with your post if that happens, thanks!

Global issues:

  • Some machines seem to have issues when they don't have an OpenGL 2.0 compatible video card driver. This is mostly an issue on laptops with on-board graphics. No solution currently.
  • The launcher attempts to use the packaged JRE, but you can also try to replace it with a JRE you've downloaded to fix certain issues. The JRE that comes with JDK 11.0.12 should work with ToA. If you're seeing any crash logs that contain the words "reflect" or "serialization", this may be the problem. If you're seeing a Bytebuffer error or any other error when hitting the "Save/Load" button, this is the problem. Running the application (.exe file on Windows, Tales Of Androgyny Mac.app on Mac, TalesOfAndrogyny on Linux) is the best solution to this problem!
  • A common issue is that the download simply doesn't finish or is corrupted. Make sure that the .rar or .zip or .apk file you download is the same filesize listed on the download (this will change over time, but currently they're around 1.2-1.4 GB)
  • There's a font issue that causes a crash depending on which font you have selected - I need to track down exactly what's causing it, but we will be finalizing font selection so this issue will go away on its own.
  • Modifying your mana values with save editing can lead to a crash when you try to enter battle

    Android specific issues:

    • When trying to install the app on Android, make sure you have plenty of storage space on your device, or it will fail.
    • Using a file/app manager can help with installation
    • Android crashes are most often due to OOM (Out of Memory) errors. While we'll try to optimize memory usage on android, if you're frequently seeing crashes, there's not much that can be done for it, and your phone is below the minimum specs.

    If there are any minor logical bugs, display errors, continuity errors, typos, etc., we'll try to immediately fix them, but any that are extant in the public version we'll try to keep here. If you see one that's not listed below, please let us know! Particular things to watch out for are softlocks and sex acts that aren't recorded (not properly removing the associated virginity, for instance)

    If you have an issue that is ruining your savefile, like a softlock, please send us the save file (majalis.patreon@gmail.com) and we will not only fix the associated softlock on future versions, but we will send you the fixed save file so that you can progress on the current version with that save file!

    We'll keep this up to date with any crash bugs or odd behavior that we're unable to reproduce/fix in the following version.  The old thread has been archived so that it's easier to search for your issue here!

    Did you modify your mana in the save file? This looks like the result of a completely invalid mana value.

    Also the chastity belt doesn't stop Kylira in the first kiss event and it doesn't work in combat.

    Typo: In the aftermath of getting knotted by the spider in combat there is an oviposition scene with the phrase "probably quite a bit more than the grand total of monstrous spider legs laid in the rectums of the vast majority of other humans who have ever lived."

    I think legs was supposed to be eggs.

    Buying multiple charms from the cottage witch only gives you your first purchase.

    I tried a Charisma Charm and a Perception Charm, but only the Charisma appeared afterward.

    EDIT: I think I figured it out. I paid the 100 gold for the ...thing you get from her, but my gold count in her shop didn't reflect that. I paid 100 for the quest item, then 200 for each charm, but I only started out with 470 gold. 

    Most likely it was related to that. I guess this defect is now Buying the McGuffin from the witch doesn't deduct the money before you reach her store page.

    In the 3.07 version on Android, neither of the wild Lupa encounter oral options had a food, health gain, or amount swallowed trigger/notification typically seen when performing oral. Seems like both scenes should have these as they both involve swallowing.

    The chastity belt does not protect you from anal in combat.

    My saves are only loading in an older version (0.2.24.0?). I have several versions installed 0.3.07.0, 0.3.01.0, 0.3.00.0, etc. Typically, I have no problem with my saves being transferred to the new version. Itch believes my install is up to date and I have reinstalled the game. Any help would be appreciated!

    Hello, my pc turned off(due to power outage) while I was playing ironman mode and entered manor in monster city, after that my save and profile file were corrupted and game didn't even load for me. I managed to deal with it by unloading save and profile file from the game folder, but lost all achievements because of this - is there a way to get it to work again? Here's the error file contents:

    Hello, I have an issue with the .jar file, it doesn't open any window and it sends an error message, some stuff with LWJGL, the error code is  0x02000148. I don't know what to do, and I've tried to use the terminal but I don't know anything about commands and that stuff. I was looking forward to play this game and I spent a whole day looking for a solution but everything has been pointless. 

    Please help, I use Mac. I downloaded JDK 16, JMC8 and tried to use it but I don't know how. I also tried to use the command java -XstartOnFirstThread -jar [filename].jar but the terminal gets frozen and I don't know what to do anymore.

    When presenting Isla with a 'Codpiece +1' she no longer recognizes it as a Codpiece. I am not sure if this applies to all upgradeable equipment, but I believe that there should be an option to present an upgraded item as a normal item, even if it may seem at the expense of the player. Perhaps a prompt could be used that asks "Do you wish to use [ITEM] +[LEVEL]?" if the concern is that players may lose their upgraded belongings.

    Alright, fixed it. It'll recognize codpieces of any upgrade level, and you can no longer upgrade the codpiece.
