I cant figure out how to use scooters. Is it just a building recipe? or can I use it to go places faster?

Build one and put it into your inventory and it will automatically come out when you move to give you a 50% speed boost
Does this mean if you put two its double the speed or am I just crazy thinking that you can ride two at a time?
