Can "Free for personal use" images be used in free games?

Hello,

I just have two questions about the Free for personal use license:

1. Can "Free for personal use" images be used in free games?

2. Can these games still accept donations?

Thanks!

From what I understand you cannot use those images to make any form of profit. which means you cannot receive payments, donations, or even link any form of service that would end up making you a profit.

Take this with a grain of salt for I am not a lawyer ┐( ̄ヘ ̄)┌

I’m not a lawyer, but here’s my understanding of it:

Personal use means personal use. You can do anything you want to the images, but you can’t publish them in any way as part of your project, regardless if you earn profit.

If you are looking at the license of a specific image, look for “commercial use” which will specify if you are allowed to include them in published projects or not. If not specified, that means you can’t use them.

Either way, if it's not clear ask the creator, because they'll know best what they meant.
