How about a "Straight" search tag

I don't understand why so much attention is given to please the LGBT community and there is no search tag to exclude this stuff for people who would rather not look at it!   Please add a "Straight" tag to exclude gay , lesbian, stuff in searches!  If you could even select minus on search tags like "minus GAY", or "minus LESBIAN", that would be good too.  I don't know why search tags have to only be plus.

You can actually exclude tags, but only one at at time. See this topic.

I tried several different one-at-a-time exclusion tags, but still could not get searches without tons of gay material.  Sadly.

Well then, see if you can convince creators to adopt your solution. Adding a new tag is up to them.

Have you tried not being a bigot? I heard that helps with being annoyed at all the gay stuff.

I wouldn’t really call it bigotry when this place really is riddled with mostly LGBT games. If your game’s only quality and feature is “gay” or “trans” then it’s not a good game.

Either way, he’s in his right to view whatever he pleases. Exclusion filters are something we’ve all been asking for for years.

yeah, no chance. If you have an issue with all the gay stuff, go somewhere else. Most of the world doesn't have nearly enough of it.

The underlying issue here is not the gay part, it’s the lack of exclusion filters.

yeah because someone has a problem with all the gay stuff here and the original post (as well as yours) is phrased in such a way, that it's really hard not to see that the problem actually is the "all the gay stuff" here and not whatever perceived lack of filters you pretend to care about.

I have my preferences, and you have your own. Stop trying to shove your preferences down my throat.

I don’t like the overabundance of horror games on Itch, does that also make me a horrophobe? I also don’t like the overabundance of sexual content on Itch, does that make me asexual?

Again, no one's forcing you to use this platform, you can go somewhere else. You might not like it, but without all the gay stuff, itchio probably would have never got off the ground and people that like making these games exist and like using this space. So either get used to it, or maybe you should just leave?

Hey, folks. Chill. Exclusion filters have long been at the top of everyone's wishlist. Sorry I can't offer you a better answer.

That said, people complain about the overabundance of visual novels, horror games, low-quality games, pretty much everything. And well... what exactly should be popular on Itch.io? Brown shooters? The kinds of games people publish here make Itch.io what it is.

Also, queer creators publish here because a lot of other places reject them.

Until more comprehensive filters are implemented, there is in fact something you can do: be specific! You can pick any number of tags to filter by, and drill down to exactly the kinds of games you're interested in. You might have to try a bunch of different combinations, but it works.

Also, use the curation tools. Make collections. Browse collections. Rate games. Then look at the list of games Itch recommends for you, because it works surprisingly well. But only if you help it a little.

In other words, be positive. Say "I like this, and this, and this" as opposed to "I hate all these things". The results might surprise you.
