Looking for some cult classic/hidden gem horror games to stream

I've been thinking about starting a weekly stream of indie horror/gothic/surreal/artsy games to play on stream, and thought itch.io would be a great place to get some recommendations :) I've had a look through the "Horror" tag here but obviously there's a lot to go through!

I'm thinking "cult classic" stuff like Yume Nikki and All Of Our Friends Are Dead, but I'm open to suggestions, ideally more on the weird/surreal side rather than "standard" horror. If you're an indie dev who has a game like this or know about some hidden gems then please let me know! Any games would be streamed at https://www.twitch.tv/blackvoidtytan

Hello,

I made a game that's definately not "standard horror" and ended up being released in two parts.  Part one can be found at danielles-games.itch.io/autumns-change-part-1 and part 2 can be found at danielles-games.itch.io/autumns-change-part-2  If you're interested in playing the game on a Twitch stream, but need a download key for each part, let me know.

It looks interesting, thanks for the suggestion! I guess it won't be for a couple of weeks but if I play it on stream I'll drop a note here :)

You're very welcome and I'm glad to hear it.

If you don't mind some reading then you might enjoy The Bunny Hill Horror: Bunny Boiler.

It definitely ticks the weird/ surreal box ;)

Here's another stream of it if you want to know what you're letting yourself in for...

Thanks for the suggestion! I notice that this is a follow-up to another game, should I play that one first?

Take your pick! Playing the first one definitely helps with the plot, although the second one is a faster paced and possibly better game where we acted on feedback from the original.

I made this one, it combines surreal horror with a weird gameplay gimmick.

I also have a collection for obscure horror games made by others:

It's a bit long, out of all of them I recommend D.O.A.S., Never Ending Entropy, Second Soul and Consciousness Ready.

This is perfect, thank you for the recommendations, it's a big help! As for your own game, I love the art style! I'll let you know beforehand if I stream it :)

You're welcome. Keep in mind some of the games in that collection are demos or made from jams, so quality and length vary a lot, although I think all of them are worth checking out.

All of my projects are horror. The Mortuary Assistant is a free prototype of the game I am currently working on. My other projects are on sale also!
