Howdy all! I just recently completed my first fully fledged game, which just so happens to be a farming sim. I've got all of the core mechanics built, and am now diving in deeper to make the game more unique and player friendly. I'm just one person, however, and I'm looking to turn this rough demo into something more. I've toyed around with a few ideas, but I'm hoping to make this a fully cooperative experience where all parties have a say in the story direction.
The story so far is pretty simple - the Player won a mysterious contest, which gave them an option of land in the village of (Name). The Player chooses the farm option, and in a nuclear fit - quit their job and fled to their new home in the countryside. Unbeknownst to them, the town is a sacred place for the supernatural, counting as the only neutral zone in the entire country. It's residents are all monsters in hiding, and the Player is the first Human to live there in several centuries. Whoops!
Mechanics Included in the demo
8-Directional Movement (4 Animated)
Customizable Player Character
Dialogue Boxes & Branching Dialogue
Time Progression
Basic Crop growth & harvesting
Rough Overworld Combat
Rough Relationship System
I'm putting some final touches on the Alpha Demo, but I'll update the post when I upload it to itch for proof of concept.
Looking For,
Writer (Dialogue, Events, Outlining, ETC.) - The Writer will be working in tandem with me and the rest of the crew, and will easily be one of the most important people on the team - as I'm hoping to make this a story based game.
Concept & Sprite Artist (Concept Art of Characters & Scenery, Visual Novel Style 2d Sprites) - The Concept Artist will be the lead in the direction of art styles, and will be the one making most decisions regarding the visuals.
Pixel Artist (Tilesets, Sprites, Animation) - The Pixel Artist will be doing majority of what is seen in game. They'll work closely with the Concept Artist to make a unique look for the game.
Musician (BGM, SFX) - It'll be a bit before we actually need music, but music can be one of the things take makes or breaks a game. They'll also work closely with the writer and artists.
Note! I am very willing to pay, as I'll be getting a significant increase in income come Christmas. With that being said, I AM looking to make friends - not just coworkers. I want to be able to hang out in vc while everyone works on the game, play other games together, etc. This is supposed to be something done for fun!
