Dark grey cubes with a paw print on the side of them - those are "Artifacts". You research them in the Research Lab module to turn them into "Samples" (tech points)
Ohhh I have like 20 of those piled up, but i can't research them because i cant build the research lab module... Since it requires metal and i cant cook the metal to build the research module.
