To celebrate my return to game development, Big Break is free to download!
If you don't know me, hi! I'm Level1Hero and I'm making one game a month (more like every 15 days) while I take computer science classes. I've been in game dev for 6 years (if you played The Sword circa 2017 from a dev called Straywolf Games, first of all, I'm sorry, but second of all, that was me!) but learning the game development process combined with the daunting tasks of being a solo developer and keeping up with the rigors of real life/jobs etc. kept me in the perpetual beginner phase. I felt like no matter how much I learned and grew I was still a novice. But I found something admirable in that, learning and growing while keeping the mindset of a novice hungry for more - hence the name Level1Hero.
ANYWAY, to overcome my tendency to design games that are too big for me to make in a reasonable time (but still awesome and planned for completion when time and money aren't so tight), I began distilling the process and focusing on projects I can more reasonably handle and complete. Big Break was my first attempt at this. As the name implies it's a "Breakout clone," a term I put in quotes to signify my adding to the typical (read: kinda boring) mechanics of the original. More paddle control, a ball that continuously speeds up, and stacking score modifiers give the game a much more modern and fast-paced feeling, giving credence to its tagline: "a mellow-to-manic block breaker."
I hope you will download Big Break and have some fun! If anything you've read has sparked your interest in me or my burgeoning games career, or if you're interested in what next month's game will be (and every month after that), please consider following my page.
I...I've never asked for follows before so please don't make me do it too much more.

Nick (Level1Hero)
