Really funny game! I love the writing and the character designs. I wish my dialogue choices had a bit more impact on the outcome of what info I learned, but it was still fun to read the different responses! The ending got a great chuckle out of me!

This is so sweet! I adore the retro vibe, takes me back to classic racing games, and the shader really elevates it and perfectly conveys the idea that you're racing around the planet!
It's so satisfying to nail the hairpin turns and keep on zooming! And I love how you can hear the crowd cheer as you rush past them. I'm gonna go back and see if I can beat my best time 🏎️
Oh dear! So sorry for you losing all that progress 😭 thank you for playing our game for so long!
Fabled/legendary resources are definitely the big endgame grind, and the business bluebird was meant to help alleviate it a bit, but I implemented his quest wrong... I notice the quest only says he's going to reward you with 10 *fabulous* ore, when it should be 10 of each legendary resource... this was a problem I noticed like half an hour before the jam deadline, and I thought I uploaded a fixed build. He's totally scamming you in this build... my last minute change didn't make it in for some reason! Sadly I did not have time to playtest this change in full on itch before the deadline...😅 please forgive the bluebird's transgressions 🙏
There's a dedicated farming spot for each legendary resource at the "end" of each section of the world, with a lot of nodes near each other, so the ore one would be the best spot for grinding legendary ore (there's enough to gather forever without waiting for respawns). It does take a long time even still though, especially for a jam game; we fell a bit short on time in the end, and playtesting a full run took so long!
Once the jam voting is over, I'd love to revisit this project again 😁 especially to implement a proper ending for the dedicated players like you 😉 the silver lining is you didn't miss out on too much, aside from the satisfaction!
Thanks again and I'll be sure to check out your submission too!
Great start, and welcome to game dev! You did a good job :) Some additional clarity on what does what would go a long way, even if it's just notes on the itch page (I know how hard it is to get everything you'd like in before the jam deadline!) I wasn't too sure what to do to prevent my entire village getting slaughtered by the bear, but dragging things onto the field is working well and it's fun to watch my little guys roam around and gather the things I place for them :)
Edit: I had an idea, so I came back and made sure to lead my villagers away from the bear by placing materials near them, and managed to beat it 😉
I was a little lost at first, but eventually I figured it out and beat it! I loved the music, and it was satisfying once I started mapping out the tree in my head. I'd like to see a little more clarity, like an indicator on which floor I'm on, or a visual to let me know I'm able to climb to the next floor. I enjoyed figuring out where the branches overlapped and figuring out where to drop down to the previous floor. Well done!
Loved it! Such a cute and satisfying finale. Memorable mechanics and lovely art.
I encountered one bug (programming bug, that is) where when I licked a grapple point and an enemy moved in between during my travel, I got stuck there for a while, then my tongue was stuck and I couldn't use it again. But taking damage reset it and I was able to finish :)
I did it!!!
I gotta say, playing through the levels again, it's really clear how well thought out the level design and enemy placement is. I love how the game both rewards patience while learning and then rewards speed and confidence thanks to how the enemies load in/despawn accordingly. You introduce new level mechanics at the perfect pace and combine them in a masterful way to create a great challenge. I could definitely see myself beating this with five lives; I feel like this is the sort of game that really encourages growth in the player across the course of the game. I had such a good time playing this and I'm so glad I was able to beat it! I've uploaded my successful run as well as my second unsuccessful run beforehand. Thank you for the experience 🐦
Game over:
Wish I could rate a 6 for NES Feel because this has the one thing a lot of great games in this jam are missing - ridiculous difficulty that can only be offset by a cheat code! By no means a negative - I found this game incredibly fun to play and would definitely make a hilarious stream game. "Flappy Bird if it was fun." Loved the sprites (especially Kuro's idle animation) . Never have I been so afraid of goofy cartoon ghosts! Genuine fear...
Tried my best to beat the game with the 30 lives code. And I'll be back to beat this game for sure!!
