The idea is really good, I think the use of the theme was really smart. but the idea alone won't do much, you executed it amazingly. simple effective, and beautiful pixels, perfect for your project, the juice on level start/win/killing units and using cards is present in a great way. And finally, the quick level replay is nicely put, which is mandatory for this type of game, where players have to go through trial and error again and again.
I am glad such a project was submitted and kept Zanga level high.
unfortunately, I didn't submit this year so I couldn't rate your entry, but it's a full mark in my opinion
Keep up the good work, and best of luck for the rest. PS: if this doesn't win, we riot

thank you, mister reviewer, I am glad you enjoyed our project, it means a lot to us that the hard work paid off
About Level 9, its the last level and It had a small bug on the Jam version, where it displays 0 Hp when there is 1 left, technically you didn't win :p but I give it to you, most people couldn't even reach it with one troop.
thank you again!

Sandwich Makes Chef is a hilarious twist on the cooking games genre. the face of the chef is what makes the experience way better xD, the sandwich looks hilarious, and the SFX make it funnier, the only regret I had playing the game is that I couldn't take some body parts from the dancing chef.

The game was surely short but it was still just a proof of concept for a game jam, somehow I'm glad you didn't push too much of it, this type of funny game can get boring if the amount of content/gameplay is given more than it should, even if the controls weren't smooth, I played it till the end and made my chef!
[ + + + + +] :: CREATIVITY
Perfect note for this one, you took the Jam Theme to a whole new hilarious level, and you made the idea even funnier with the art style you went with, the dancing chef with a creepy face, the sandwich olive eyes..etc. Great job on this one!
[ + + + + - ] :: PRESENTATION
I was honestly hesitating between 3 or 4 on this one, I think the buttons on the menu, the title screen, and the win screen, in general, can be way cooler/funnier, using the classic Unity UI felt a bit lazy/incoherent with the rest of the style, but it's a game jam after all, maybe you guys ran out of time, I decided to go for 4/5 just cause the sandwich looks cute
Well done, and best of luck for the rest!
I love what you did there, such peaceful background music, and chill SFX, the tone, in general, is perfection for this type of game.
you went with something a bit tricky and risky, but you nailed it! you got a double 5 stars on creativity and presentation, only small criticism I can give is that it felt a bit boring for my taste, maybe I am just not made for this kind of game
Congratulation on your entry, really solid project
I loved the idea, loved the graphics and also glad to see a GameMaker brother doing such cool stuff, I think I got stuck although I understood everything in the game.
I send the horses get me items, I signed to get them ( that part is so cool by the way ) , I could put the item on the first tab and select the price but I couldn't sell it and I had no one coming to buy from me, is it normal? did I miss something?
really nice game, I loved the pixel art and the gameplay/puzzles are brain-melting, I encountered two small bugs, one where the spike block had no collision and allowed me to cheat my way out, and also occasionally the level would restart when I reach the final door and win it?
besides those minor issues, and sick work you have here, the title screen is gorgeous and also the transition between the levels is a nice touch
congratulation on your submission and best of luck!
very cute idea, I love how the character celebrates upon reaching the end of the level xD
you have some small bugs here and there but it's a cool project, for example, the levels order is not set correctly, I started at level 1 normally and was progressing, but when I left to the main menu I found that it skipped level 3 . also on level 6 and 7 sometimes the timeline on top that tells you when the character jumps is not there, besides this, really cute entry. I finished 6 levels but couldn't do the 7th
congratulation on your submission and best of luck!
Thank you for the feedback! auto skiping the into was on the to do list but we didn't get enough time at the end, we hardly made half the planned levels
about skipping level, we always add sort of cheat code on our Jam games, with F1/F2 keys you can navigate between levels , you can read that on the game page -> instructions or even on the read me file inside the zip file
I will check your project asap(I have a huge queue of games haha) can't wait to play your game
its a simple idea but really fun, the art is what amazed me about your project, gorgeous pixels, just perfect
If I can suggest anything, it will be to lower the difficulty a lil bit, I was shaking so hard but can hardly survive few seconds xD , it seemed a bit unfair at some points
really good job, Congratulation on your submission and best of luck!
I loved the idea and the presentation is on point! really cool title screen, nice in-game visuals, smooth transition between levels, and the explosion feedback is so satisfying.
I found the puzzles a bit easy even if I progressed a lot, are the puzzles randomly generated?
congratulation on your entry, please make it more challenging I want more of this!
Screw super good guy! I didn't let him free a single hostage :3
the game dev in me wants to congratulate you for the awesome work you guys did on 48h but the player in me wishes there was more gameplay to it! I really enjoyed your idea, planing the evil guys' path on the level and making it hard for the good character to win was awesome. I think a better AI would make the game more interesting but it's super hard to pull it off on a jam. It also would look way more realistic if the player waited a little bit and tried to see the evil guys' patterns before moving? maybe? just throwing random suggestions
One last thing, the opening art is sick!
Gloob tent are so cool, if I was the player on that tower defense game and the computer spawned gloob tent I would rage quited so hard xD
I am glad to see a reverse tower defense brother and also a GameMaker brother, the idea of sending troops from any where and building literal generators was pretty cool, I also loved the "Yoopi" at the end , it was so cute.
would have been way cooler with more visual effects and some background music, but still, solid entry
congratulation on your submission and best of luck!
thank you! we were actually discussing the possibility of picking your team sequence with the delays between each troop but didn't up doing it, it makes the game more strategic actually and I am glad to see someone went with that approach, I will make sure to try you game asap, I actually have a long list I am going through haha
thank you again, can't wait to test your project
I can't believe this was done under 48h, the art is amazing, the idea is hilarious and the execution is just perfect
You guys did an amazing job, I have nothing to say apart from I wish there were more gameplay to it.
Congratulation on the entry, really well done! I think you are top 100 atleast .. best of luck!
I really loved the idea and also the execution, opening the game on Unreal and fixing the scripts was so funny. sadly I couldn't do anything after I fixed all the scripts ( which took me forever by the way xD Character movement was so difficult, thank god you implemented the undo)
Congratulation on the entry, solid project!
This is by far the most enjoyable game I have played! it was simply genius, at first I was annoyed that I can't control which character I get the view of, since it instantly activates on eye contact, then it became a mechanic ( sorta ) trying to avoid useless people around, I was also surprised at the guards letting me do whatever I wanted, only for a final plot twist which makes everything make sense.
I don't know why but I was sure at some point I will have a code written on me and I have to read it via some other character perspective... I guess that was just the puzzle designer in me imagining things haha
Really good job! ...I had to install some Microsoft thingy and also got forced to restart my computer but it was all worth it. I played it till the end and had so much fun
PS: maybe you should make the credit skippable, at least the one accessed from the main menu cause I got stuck there after a wrong click xD
Congratulation on the entry, really well done. solid 4.66 ★ from me
everything you said makes sense, but the purpose of the jam theme is to create creative gameplays, not just the implementation of the theme via art or story. if you change the winning point to a door and make the player sprite a bit less evil-looking, you lose the purpose of the jam, I don't know if you can see my point.
That's a triple 5 stars for me, we went for a similar concept but your execution was just hilarious, from the name to the art to the plot twist in the end, it didn't seem like it was made in 48h, you really gave the kind a personality and made me invested in reading his thoughts every time.
Congratulation on your submission, I can't see a world where this doesn't make the top 100... atleast one of the "inverted tower defense" brothers will make it to GMTK video Haha
If I had one small criticism to make, it is that the game doesn't encourage strategy, (the opposite of what this type of game should be doing). I found myself spamming units and upgrading them none stop till winning.
Your project has insane potential, best of luck for the rest!
