It basically gives permission to the app/file, dont do this to files you dont trust though. however for itch.io games on mac (mostly not all) this should work.

a easy way:

sudo chmod -R 755 <drag the file here> in the terminal, make sure the file you drag is the app not the download file

Are you playing on a mac? of so, theres a free version on https://macdownload.org/app/ravenfield-early-access-build-21/ but its not build 23 though, its 21. but it's still an improvement, and free.
