I like the voice acting and story and art you seem to have (from the screenshot) but unfortunately, even after many attempts, I never succeeded in crossing the road at the beginning :(

Cool atmosphere. But I beat the game by just holding the up and right arrow and spamming spacebar ^^

Awesome music too :)

Very good game. Was really fun to play and felt quite polished. Great work :)

Cool little game. I couldn't finish it unfortunately (it crashed when I got the underwater breathing item) but I really like the level design and fast respawn. Also the signs with the instructions were a nice touch. Good work :)

Hey, thanks. Sorry about the performance issues, I'll upload a windows build once the jam is over. Also, it might depend on the web browser, I find it runs best on Google Chrome for what it's worth.

Anyway, I added a gameplay video on my page so people can  get a feel of the game.

Cool game. I really liked the transition from platformer to puzzle game. Nice job :)

Very short (but I shouldn't complain since my own game also is^^)  but cool concept.

It definitely fits the theme and the mechanics are good. Nice music and atmosphere too.

Good work.

Cool retro vibe, I liked it. Felt maybe a bit too punishing with the tight the controls and the fast pace but I can see how that would be deliberate for a game like this.

The art and music were well done and make a cool atmosphere.

Nice job :)

Screenshot :

It could come from my computer to be honest, I got a warning about my graphics card  having issues with D3D11 before launching the game.
(It's kinda old)

Impressive ! For some reason level 5 was almost all white (but I beat it by going straight) and I found level 6 had a big spike in difficulty compared to the previous ones. In the end, I beat all the levels :)

The art and atmosphere were great and the voice acting at the start was a nice touch.

Great job !

Very decent for a 1st game, nice work :)

Hello there, with only 2 days remaining to vote and an average of less than 8 ratings per game, I thought it could be interesting to throw around recommendations to motivate people to try out more games. So, if some games stood out to you as being particularly good, interesting or unique, mention them below.

Oh, and one rule : don't mention your own game, that's cheating :)

I'll start with those two :

THE LAST WALL https://itch.io/jam/mini-jam-122-intermission/rate/1851866

If I had to bet on a game winning this jam, it would definitely be this one. I'll just say that it's really good,  and if you haven't tried it yet, you should.

Underfunded Rocketry https://itch.io/jam/mini-jam-122-intermission/rate/1851519

A really fun game once you figure out how to control your rocket. I spend quite some time on it and it felt really rewarding when I finally finished it (aiming for a planet orbiting the sun was quite a challenge !)

Quite good for something developped  in 5 hours. Simple and unique :)

Thanks for the kind words :)

Those enemies probably just got stuck behind one of the rocks (there is no real pathfinding to be honest^^).

Glad you liked it !

Made it to round 18 ! Was really fun to play and try to survive as long as possible.

Good game :)

One of the best games I've played so far in this jam. I felt a bit frustrated by the difficulty as I wanted to try out all the upgrades but couldn't get far enough for that (my best run was wave 25 or something).

The game is very polished and the whole concept is quite good. Was very fun to play. Great work :)

It took a minute to figure out what to do and how to get where I needed to go but after that it was a ton of fun. Felt good when I finally landed on that planet orbiting around the sun :)

Good work !

The goal of the game felt counter-intuitive at first but it makes sense with the limitation of the jam ! The game feels quite polished and the atmosphere is very chill.

Good job :)

Excellent. I think it's a bit too hard at some points though. I got stuck dying over and over again on the path to get the double jump upgrade, it took me 30 minutes to an hour to pass it. Other than that, it's kinda perfect. I particularly enjoyed the audio and music.

Awesome work !

I liked it. I had a few issues that most people already mentionned (like the camera being a bit violent when you change direction). Other than that, I couldn't help but think the game would feel so much nicer if you could aim directly at the enemies with the mouse (but also much easier I imagine) but I that's a completely different direction in terms of design I guess.

On the positive side, I liked the atmosphere, bosses, music etc. The game felt quite polished. Also, for some reason, it's the only game with a top-down view in this jam (that I've seen so far anyway) so that's refreshing !

Good job :)

Great game. Very minimalistic, but that worked well. The controls and abilities felt very good and satisfying. Also, it was very well designed in terms of layout and difficulty (keeping in mind I generally don't enjoy difficult games).

I don't really have any negative to say about it, except maybe the lag spike we can get when smashing too many enemies to pieces but that's pretty much it.

Fantastic job :)

There is a really cool vibe with this game. I quit at some point when I didn't where to go, I had only unlocked the cute companion and the sword. I think the world is a little too big, or could use some more direction. Otherwise, the art, animation and music are great and help create a really chill and relaxed atmosphere.

Great work :)

I had a bit of a problem with the player controls / movement and how difficult it made the game feel sometimes. Other than that, everything feels good and polished.

The art,  ui,  sound, music and overall atmosphere are great.

Good job :)

Very polished game. Controls and movements were super tight and it looks really nice. Only small downside would be difficulty. If it was 10-15% less difficult or if there were checkpoints, it would be perfect. I did finish it though ! I had 1hp left and was sweating but I did it :)

Great work !

The controls and combat mechanics could use some improvement but the art and general look of the game are great. Feels very polished on that front.

Good job !

Great entry. Controls / movement could be a bit better (it only bothered me during boss fights) but the art, the voice acting and overall vibe of the game really stand out.

Very good work.

I enjoyed that more than I thought I would.
Clever game :)

Good entry. As people already said, the controls and movements feel very fluid.
The art is good.

Nice game :)

Lovely game and atmosphere. Definitely the most interesting one I've played so far in this game jam.

Great job :)

Sorry about that, what browser did you use ? Is it up to date ?

Given the rendering pipeline I used, I'm not sure I could make it work for WebGL 1 :(

Thanks, I noticed the similarity between our games also :)

Thanks for telling me.

What browser did you use ? It is there an error or is the game just stuck on loading ?

So after some research, it doesn't seem like I can make a .dmg file with Unity (at least while operating on Windows). I'm still trying to fix the problems I'm having with the WebGL version (problems with shaders and post-processing not working correctly...) so maybe that will happen one day ! xD

Anyway, I took a look at your updated game and left feedback on your page :)

Hi, so despite what I said in the game jam, I don't know if I can fully get used to those controls with that perspective. I still love the idea of the orbit around the black hole and the physics/gravity that goes with it but the fact that I have to think before moving makes my reaction time quite low. And sometimes I just go in the wrong direction and die xD
It might just be me having trouble adapting to that setup. But in case it's not, an idea for making the movement more intuitive would be to keep everything the same but just make the camera rotate with the player. I don't know how well it would work though.

Now, on a more positive note, everything else (the audio, the visual effects and even the menus) is amazing and the shooting and feedback we get from it is really good :)
And I appreciate the addition of the easy mode and the additionnal lives we can get while playing. It makes it much more enjoyable than the game jam version.
Overall I really had fun playing it, the only downside being the difficulty with controls. For what it's worth my highscore is 5335 in easy mode (didn't even dare to try harder modes xD)

Hello, I recently developped a new version of my entry in the VimJam 2020 on collectables, Snowracer.

https://seldonn.itch.io/snowracer

Here is a sneak peek :

Try it out and tell me what you think :)

V2 is online !

I added a macOS version if you wanna test it. No idea if it works^^

If people are still looking for interesting games to play, I propose https://itch.io/jam/vimjam/rate/766861

It's very simple and fast to get into. Feels like what could be an addictive mobile game :)

Defininitely the best stupid simple game I've seen in this jam :) Very fun to play. As some people already mentionned, I could imagine this game working well on mobile. I feel like with a bit more polish (menus, progression system, leaderboard...) you could sell this as an app.

Good work !

There are music and sound effects, I guess I just tend to put the volume lower than most other games^^

As for the game having bad performance, that's something I should look into. Maybe there is some stuff to optimize graphic-wise...
