I'm in the same boat as you, although I've (mostly) got it all figured out.
For the throttle, you need to tinker with the calibration settings in the rebind menu, that fixed it for me.
For landing, what I do is hold the button until the plane lands, if you're close enough to the strip and in the right position, it's easier.
The button prompts can get a little confusing at first, but when it asks for a button it checks if you've done the movement the button is meant to do, not the button being pressed.
Also, Windows has an unified drivers package from Thrustmaster, not sure what drivers it has for Linux.
