You don't have to make it easier to know how to use the pickaxe. Do it if you want to, but you explicitly told the player that it can be used to mine rocks and the player would shortly after (or before) see their path obstructed by rocks, I think you made it pretty obvious already.

So I really want to emphasize that I blame myself for that but I also think the random encounters could had contributed because they were too distracting.

Bugs

  1. Newspapers clips out of bounds
  2. Newspapers sometimes appear in random places that are hard to find. I found the newspaper laying next to the couch in the dark once. I had to restart the game twice because of this
  3. Not sure if caused by tabbing out of the game or starting the new game, I couldn't replicate, but this bug makes it so you interact with what's next you rather than what you are pointing at. It's fixed by fully closing the game and restarting it
  4. Ending 3 should occur even if you do not do any tasks and don't pick up the phone call. To get ending 3, I took the phone call and had to use my phone, when I didn't do that, I got ending 1.
  5. I don't think the Gunita_BurstDebugInformation_DoNotShip folder should be there

I don't think there's any benefit in having timed tasks, since that only leads to the player missing dialogue and events and detracts from the experience. It doesn't add to the experience (I am referring to the uncle looking for his food and the phone call from the dad). I missed them for trying to explore, the phone call has a pretty short time to pick up if you were in the middle of something (I was looking at the phone messages)

yeah I did try reinstalling it. Here's video of the bug if that helps

Is it vhs filter or a color filter? The game is playable, it's just the graphics that are broken

I keep getting a white screen when I open the game. Can you tell me what is happening? Is this a missing filter or a missing shader?? Is there anything that I need to install before I play this game?

Like if you are Evil McShmeevil

I also tried to make the game linux native compatible but you have this thing that sets where the save files are supposed to be stored that I don't know how to fix because I don't get it. In Linux it tries to do it in the root directory (equivalent to C:/) which is a place no one besides the admin has access to so it gets an access denied error

var path = window.location.pathname.replace(/(\/www|)\/[^\/]*$/, '/save/');

You are probably not interested in making it linux native but I say this in case someone else is.

opening the game menu tends to break the game or stop the music. There’s also many instances where driving too slow breaks the game

I like the little detail where

The ghost girl will only show up if you drive too fast. You will also be driving so fast it’s impossible to stop before hitting her or that even if you can you only have a few miliseconds to do it. I tried. I think you have to drive at least 60 or 70 miles for her to spawn.

I also don't know for how much of your work you use AI for, but if you do use AI for ideas for example, try to not be as ambitious as AI is.

There's a lot of things in this game that are just not implemented or left unfinished (brocolli and most soda flavors are never used, only one person ever ordered beer, there is no reason in lore or gameplay to have the screen used to pick up the call be a random one instead of just a single one). If AI told you to do this, I mean, you can't be as ambitious as AI, the game works without these features and you can put your time in better games instead of these mechanics it might suggest that are either too ambitious, unrealistic, or redundant.

15+ minutes of gameplay is going to be you walking from the kitchen to the delivery window and then back to call the customer for the order

And that's not accounting for players not getting things prepared by having all their ingredients nearby or the time it takes for you to run around the kitchen.

There's also some pizza that was already prepared that I didn't see. I don't like all of these back and fort walks, but this is also the first game I had played in this style. Not a fan. I would had liked the game more if the place was smaller and you could call for the customer in the delivery window instead of the kitchen

I love the passion put in this game, I ended up getting stuck for 2 hours because I didn't know I had to use the pickaxe to clear the rocks. I was stuck into thinking that the pickaxe was supposed to be used to collect resources from any rock you see as I had seen in other rpg maker games but when that didn't work I just assumed it's a broken or unfinished or leftover feature just like the axe. I completely disregarded it, forgot about it, the gameplay video here is what showed me what to do with it. Before I found the pickaxe, I ended up making a lot of progress through the secret teleports you left in the game that I just happened to find, so the way I made progress was kind of weird but I can't make progress without going to the dessert so I was stuck for 2 hours or more.

Part of me loves this game. All the fights and fighting mechanics were great as well, they are complex and you get greatly rewarded by learning how every move works and using them properly and at the right time. You are rewarded for playing smart. It takes a good amount of time to beat the enemies which is great but I started to hate it because I have to do these long, extremely nuanced and complicated fights over 50 times because of random encounters. I think sometimes fights just have to be slop, I can enjoy this fighting gameplay but I can't be doing this 50 times when all I want to do is explore. Keep it short.

The other part of me is bothered by how random encounters happen so often. It's way too often sometimes right after I finish a fight, I walk 5 squares and I get into another fight. I am not a fan of this. Having so many random encounters discouraged me to explore, I wanted to avoid spending more time than I needed to in the same room to not go through as many fights. There were so many fights I eventually started to cheat, I tried to not cheat when it came to boss battles, but considering I put so much time in the game I just didn't want to do that anymore and started instant killing the bosses as well. I didn't get the true ending because I think it would be a disservice to the game for me to continue to play a work of passion when my heart was no longer in it.

I wouldn't ask for the game to do something about the pickaxe. That was my fault. I think I would had probably figured it out if I didn't get discouraged from exploring by having the random encounters happening so often. They were also distracting. That is the only thing I would change, decrease random encounters and add some slop enemies that are easy or don't require a complex fighting strategy and can be defeated quickly. Don't nerf the enemies, add new ones, the currents one I like but they need to be here less often.

This game is a 4/5 for me and I hope to give it another chance at a later date or to play another game you make. I really like this game and I really like how it made me reflect on how I would react to my own work.

you have to click the pineapple

If it doesn't let you click it, throw something at it

I mean, just try it yourself

it's more like an exploit, you created the equivalent of the creeper, the pigman, rocket jumping, air strafing, bhopping, and reload cancelling

it's already in the game

I don't know if you had ever seen the developer log on your browser, it's filled with errors but I wonder if enemies being spawned being considered an error is intentional

After killing around 30 enemies there's also these logs that make me think something is supposed to happen but it just wasn't implemented

Either that or the sound for the stationary train tends to break for some reason at around the same time. I can still hear it, and it still changes depending on how far away I am from it. I don't notice anything that's broken here.

When I first played the game I somehow made it so the enemies stopped spawning.

Flying kick is a thing. Attack twice, then as soon as you attack the third time jump. Should be a flying kick. It can also be timed to be an electric jump

either the lore, dialogue, and game's description doesn't make sense because the dev did a poor job at it or all the text is AI

The main problem is that there is no quality control and that is always the case when people use AI. It's representative ofthe entire experience to some. Using AI then discredits and devalues the hard work you had done on your own without AI

I also don't know why this game was released multiple times.

good game but in my first playthrough everything was pitch black, still beat the game anyways. I wish there were better textures for the food and that the textures changed after it got cooked, that the parent was more of a monster since a kid would be very afraid of getting caught so the player should be just as afraid as if getting caught it's their doom.

Overall, nice short game. Experience would had been better without the bug, because it took me a bit too long to beat it. I can't replicate the bug.

I just want to say, you are a great success story

I think the wizard never offers to teach you anything. Even if you interact with him again or go back to him before entering the cave

I really want to smoke whatever you are smoking. This is a good read, I like your take

(3 edits)

I don't like the game because I felt like it was trying to teach me something, but it basically just said "be yourself :)"

If I really want to please people and I really want to fit in I would be like "no you are wrong they will like me if I do this and I will be happy" because that's not convincing and how could that easily sway me. This game felt the same as being told "just be happy" (without being dismissive)

and it also never told me what was so bad about having wings. How does that prevent me from being myself. Like, I could hang out with the wizard AND have wings. Like if you give me a jetpack I would be like "that's so cool!" and there's nothing wrong with that.

I would had liked this game if the Raven went through the consequences of not being themselves. Doing the whole thing to get wings. Especially if people like the Raven for having those wings but the Raven is unhappy and starts a new quest to go back on their decision. This is the path I was hoping the game would take. Either that, or, just help me understand why having wings is so bad (through the game I mean). Have the Raven show discomfort at the idea of having wings, get into some monologue, something to convince me to tell the Raven "no don't have wings". I think this path is more connected to the topic the game wanted to touch on.

I was hoping he would play it because he did reply to a comment of mine once and I think he reads a lot of them without responding, but you know the more comments there are the less likely the uploader will see yours

(1 edit)

I played this game 2 years ago in 2023 and I still think it's one of the best. I really wish there were more people playing it

I left a comment a long time ago but he probably didn't see it or just didn't get to it :/

There's a lot of games he hasn't played because he has a big backlog

fuck the playstation, I used keyboard! I found out how!

Keyboard completion time: 23 minutes

Mouse speedrun: 2 minutes

nevermind, I AM USING MY KEYBOARD. I FOUND OUT HOW

hahahahahHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(1 edit)

(You only need your mouse. I cannot stress enough how little you need your keyboard for this game. You point and you click. You can't do either of those on keyboard. Only on mouse)

oh yeah!? OH YEAHAH!???!?? Watch me use a playstation controller and see who wins! HAHAHAHAAHAHHAAHAHAHHA!!!!!!!!!

The true horror is the flashbang at the end

would had loved for this game to be much longer but I love it for what it is. You guys are doing a great job with teaching your students

The real challenge is to do this without healing, that's what I was doing at first due to a browser bug (something to do with arkenfox's settings)

And the challenge after that is a no hit run

I took me hours to do this without healing and I couldn't beat it. Once I opened the game without arkenfox I did it in 10 minutes or less.

The boss battle is pretty easy to figure out, and highly relies on not making mistakes.

they look too good to be spam sites and link to the official game on steam. It could also be a fan site

I had seen spam sites do this before. I just wish the devs confirmed somewhere publicly because this looks very legit and this is a rare strategy.

why are there 2 webfishing websites? .net and .pro

I thought I was never going to find this game again, it's one of those I keep remembering randomly

Great game, sucks that it crashed on me when I tabbed out on Linux but it was karma because I said something about wanting to cheat the game

I was close to the end too

Does it really make a difference to set the frame rate to anything higher than 30? Were the higher frame rates tested? It's weird because if you set it to 144 and then try to go down, you will get values like 124

bugbear is an excellent showcase of horror writing btw

(1 edit)

delete the persistent file in SaintSpellBook\game\saves and delete your other saves if you want. Also look in C:\Users\username\AppData and in one of the folders you may find SaintSpell (in linux it's /home/username/.renpy/SaintSpellBook)

I just have to say this game is amazing and very extensive, I just wish this was more of the kind of game where you make your own character and it goes for longer than 5 days (the time limit sometimes is very annoying especially with this rng)

Arbor story was my favorite, it was very endearing and touching and the fact that it was so well written is a big plus. Huxley is so amazing they became my favorite character, it's the development and the writing, all the emotion and complex things are so good.

Dinae is waifu

Some characters, mainly the ones you befriend instead of love, would had been nice if you had more time to spend with them. Some I wish they had more content. You are usually only able to get 2 or 3 endings at once at most.

this game deserves some speedruns
