Hello everyone!
Leek's Adventure will be a 3D Platformer game, inspired by some 3D platformers I really enjoyed as a kid such as Spongebob Squarepants Battle for Bikini Bottom or Tak and the Power of Juju. You will have to switch (change) between characters to solve various parts of the levels (similar to when you have to change from Spongebob to Sandy to move to a far away platform or like Tak when he had to change type of weapon. In both examples you had to think how to use the tools each character/weapon had).
The game will be developed on Unity and I plan to use 3D assets made by me modified using Unity's ProBuilder, most of the code will be coded by myself (as I try to focus on learning that aspect) and all the sounds I use during the gamejam (if any) won't be recorded or made by me. Any assets used that I didn't made myself will be recorded on the final build on a scene corresponding to credits (according to their corresponding licenses).
You can checkout my progress here (on my Github repository). If you have any suggestions or comments I'm always open for any feedback (also I'll try to add some gifs for better reference on my next devlog).
Day 1: Basically I just brainstormed till I got to this idea.
The rest of the days up to 13/07/2020: I kind of forgot to record what I made each day, but long story short:
- I made a basic movement using rigidbody.
- I built a basic test level for the game using ProBuilder.
- Generated a script to follow as smoothly as possible the player (still on progress).
Next steps after adding a final touch to the camera (in no particular order):
- Create two different characters (along with their different abilities and a smooth way to change between them).
- Add a mayor collectable (what object still to be defined, could even be socks as far as I'm concerned (at the moment)).
- Add enemies with basic AI.
- Create a nice UI.
- Create "pause", "main" and "credits" menus (along with al the expected.
Finally I would want to mention that part of the scripts I already made are based on a tutorial series made by Jasper Flick (which are under the MIT-0 and CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 Licences (for code and the tutorials themselves correspondingly).
(Edit: good luck everyone and have fun learning!)
