I agree that graphic and sound play a role, BUT because it is a short GameJam, we must concentrate on the core idea (this is more like training for prototyping stage, where polishing is NOT advisible).

You have it rough. I know that it is irritating. Sorry, but I cannot impact how I feel about it.

Read mindvlowing spoilers in this comment section. Thank you for the feedback.

Sound and visuals should not be judged in this Jam. Easily top 20 game.

I love how every character changes how I perceive level (quality over quantity). I love humorous descriptions ("normal boi does whatever normal boi can" reminds spiderman theme song - "spiderman does whatever spirder can").

I played, rated and gave feedback-commented your game, please, do the same for mine. My game is mix of narrative based with top down shooter and has profound ideas about life (if you reach the end). Use left mouse button to shoot and arrows to move. Remember to collect power ups. https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/461368

I LOVE limping gun (made stealth so funny) and Hitman reference/parody. Great blend of strategy and action in appropriately short levels. Could have been more variety of enemies such as sniper for extra strategy.

I liked sprites and humor,  also music was so great, but regarding the Jam criteria - precise movement, distinctive feeling of various enemies (especially alien bullets) and weapons. The only drawback was too less power ups - maybe instead of making cool stamina meter, you could have made power ups such as temporary time slow (my ex main project have it and it looks so cool (badass superpower)

).

Ice analogy is very precise. If I am an exception, then you have nothing to worry about the critic, BUT if too many feel like that, then you have an underlying problem , which you must understand and correct, becoming stronger in result.  By the way, I personally prefer constant speed in my games, because it gives players more control for precise movements (my ex main project

).

I will appreciate if you will play, rate and give feedback (comment) to my game. https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/461368#post-879813

Yes and I am happy that you finished it. For not finished *mindblowing spoilers* The journey represents life, where we loose people for better or worse (archenemy or the best friend) and it changes us (power ups). The wall represents the end point, when we can return to our past (back in the level and reread the messages) or wait inevitable death (when the song ends, your characters will die, even if you chilled just at right side wall, not move at all, keeping status quo). During the road you must decide if it is easier to be just on your own OR to put an effort to keep somebody until the end. Not your words, but actions will speak.

Behind the scenes:

The idea was SO persistent (moreover, I do not like horror). This game was possible, BECAUSE it was short GameJam, game like this VERY unlikely be my main project).

This was my 1st GameJam (although I have learnt Unity 11 months) and I had a job during weekend (Fr-Sun), so I could work on the game only 16 h (instead of 25-30 h) and on the end was EXHAUSTED (late nights and early mornings took a toll).

Still I am happy that participated and have no regret about chickening out.

The right priorities (the core idea, game mechanics and visuals/audio, which supports the former 2) and acceptable preparation (such as BASIC code, where to find sound effects, music etc. for free) is the key in my opinion. Although this is my 1st GameJam, these things helped me a lot, especially because I had a job during weekend (Fr-Sun), so I could work on the game only 16 h (instead of 25-30 h) and was EXHAUSTED. Also the idea was SO persistent, moreover, because I do not like horror games and game like this VERY unlikely be my main project. This game was possible, BECAUSE it was short GameJam.

Enemies felt a bit too strong (brown spiders from 3HP to 2HP or even 1HP if you wished to adhere to theme). Some power ups would be welcome too. Also some obvious hints, who/where (such as footprints) etc. took the shoe would so be nice.

Only 1 bullet idea (Mark Brown mentioned it as an example)

I do like the idea, because you need to adapt all the time, BUT I hate movement - it felt too inaccurate, because you have too wide "1 step", which made picking up weapons more irritating than necessary. You needed to implement walk (slow, but very precise) AND keep jump (fast, but you are locked to your movement for 0.X seconds).

Those, who have finished the game, know why the game is a bit on the hard side.

Confusing, because only at 3rd try understood that the yellow dot is like a shepherd for the herd and you must protect the herd as long as possible,No direct control over.If you used appropriate sprites/models such as shepherd, sheep and wolfs, it would improve gameplay, because people have used to idea that you control only 1 character.

Use left mouse button to shoot and arrows to move.

You are on point regarding the music - I hate it, because how unsettling it is. But not as unsettling as  *spoilers* idea that you will loose dear people  and that there is only one end to life.

I hope that you reached the end and could reflect on your choices in game and maybe in life.

I do not like horror etc., but the idea just did not let go. I made this game, because it was just short GameJam, otherwise I would not withstand that bleak mindset.

If you get stuck, do not rush, remember enemy positions and IF you got rid of archenemy and haters, then shoot all the time. Also remember to pick up power ups.
