when did the story imply the cheif specifically homophobic? though that is a really good argument, all i saw was that the tribe is homophobic but theres no way of telling if the chief himself is just playing off straight. On top of that the "no outsiders" law seemed really important to the tribe, and if Ranok got away with breaking that i'm sure that being homo isn't gonna make much of a change. Especially if the cheif feels empathy for him as he also needs to play off straight despite his actual feelings.
