Wow, really great job! Just got to the end, a very compelling and fun story. A lot of work has gone into this and it shows!

One small heart is when a creature makes a pass at another. If the other reciprocates you get a bigger heart and that means they've procreated and a baby pops up. When the baby has reached adulthood it pops out of its shell and starts running around.
