Also having everyone playing on the same version would help isolate old bugs on older versions from being produced. Having everyone playing the same version makes the experience better, even if it means everyone has to update.

Just curious, do you have "Enable Steam Play for all other titles" checked? I would recommend a proton version, but I don't know what the effects of the different versions have on different hardware. If you do and have tried the different proton versions with the game, then you should disregard what I have said so far.
Thank you for making me aware of this. I hadn't realized that there are harmful elements of the user interface that displace part of the population and prevent them from enjoying their favorite games, especially when Steam is the main marketplace for video games on PC. I can see why a lack of a linux port hurts the players of the game.
You can purchase Among Us on Steam, then you have to activate/enable Steam Play in Steam settings (along with Enable Steam Play for all other titles), which is a platform support feature for games that don't natively support it. After that you should be able to play Among Us (mostly) issue free. Though I would only try this if you already intended to purchase the game on Steam, as lack of official Linux support doesn't guarantee any success with Steam Play, especially since Steam Play might not fully support Among Us.
