Thank you so much! Was wondering if you potentially had another way of downloading your game?? I love "metroidbranias" I'm on a Mac at the moment, because I'm traveling for my job. would love to try and rate yours before the jam ends!

THIS is one of my favorite entries. I get overly anxious with button timing, and when I hit the "break the cycle" option, I heard the music amp up with the piano and thought it was about to go down one last time before the game ended.. genuinely started getting real nervous for a sec haha. Awesome game, love the classical music and the artwork, the dialogue was a little creepy and unexpected, but I thought it was awesome and very unique! haha

Really cool short game, I enjoyed the twist at the end too! Great work!

Neat upload and even better tutorial

The visuals are insane! Love the UI, very cool concept!

(1 edit)

I was really excited to play this seeing it was posted in the outer wilds and metroidbrania subreddits. I played on a mac so im not sure if that caused any issues.

Potential Spoilers ahead:

So I played for about an hour, got that natural lighting, grew the vine and little tree. climbed up the vine and got to the right side of the area, and so I tried to time everything to light up the left candle.. I kept failing, and the torch would instantly go out. So I figured that maybe lighting the torch above and then dropping it through the little sliver would light the candle. But that didn't work either. I'm sure that as night falls, that's what the issue with the light going out is. But I couldn't figure anything else out from there. The little bush with the candle above the moving platform, I got up top by waiting for the moving platform candle to go out, for a bit I thought maybe I had to burn it to reveal something, and that didn't work. I'm not too sure what else I can do, to be honest. I stayed in between where the area loops around with a torch and nothing. I would love to give it another go if i could get an idea of something else to try. Aside from that, I like the move animation, and the music reminds me a lot of Rainworld, which I really love. The narrative it's good, but obviously, I'd like to get an answer as to what's going on. Thanks for creating and sharing this project. I hope you can play mine and give me your thoughts on it :)

Wow, this is insanely well done. The vibes are crazy cool. The music, art, animations.. everything is peak. Loved this game! Congrats on this one!!

Interesting concept, reminds me a bit of "inmost". The art is awesome too, and the music is great. I had a few issues with the reverse (R) mechanic, unfortunately

Great narrative! You can tell you put a lot into this project. I like the board game hex layout. I read up on some of your previous comments, and it's not fully balanced. I played a few times, and the narration really kept me engaged. I could see this being expanded more and even more immersive with music and art. Good job regardless, thanks for sharing!

Thank you! The music switch and intensity really was inspired by "Outerwilds" So I'm glad you enjoyed that haha. It builds a sense of urgency.

I apologies for the short void type space. I was considering extending it but I wasn't sure if adding more time would annoy players or make them feel like it took too long. But it's something I'll take into consideration to patch up once ratings are over! So thanks for the feedback.

Also, again, thank you very much for your kind words; it means a lot! :) In reference to that, I added that and didn't expect anyone to even bother to check up top the pillar. I more so added it just for my sake in reference to a really short game I released on Steam a few years ago. This jam was actually the first time I've come back to developing any game in years. So the game I'm referring to is "Riley in the Abyss." I wrote more so as a little reminder to myself. I need to go back and fix some bugs that are within the game, but I just haven't had time. The story is also left a bit ambiguous, and so it's a little easter egg/ call back to that game :) So is, if you type in "Abyss". another little callback/ easter egg. I wanted to add in more little scenes and phrases but I just didn't have anymore time!

And you know, I was going to add something else as the player fell off the plane, like a text under the plane but at the time, I was having issues with my rigidbody acting weird and gravity not working, so i scratched it and put the never***** text. BUT, I ended up getting gravity to work properly and kicked myself for not adding the idea in :P

Thanks again for your comment!

I’m happy with the outcome and have had good compliments despite the time frame. Can’t help being busy unfortunately. Came up with the concept while I was painting and tried to rush my work to get home to work on it haha. I’m out of state away from my main computer to make adjustments at the moment but I will play your game when I get off work later on my laptop. Thank you for taking the time to write!

thanks for the feedback, unfortunately I only had about a day and a half to work on the main mechanics of this. I probably should’ve implemented code to adjust the second half of the audio but I only had time to make it reload the scene so the audio would essentially stay the same after each loop. I’m sorry if you didn’t have a good experience with it but thanks for playing! I’ll definitely look into fleshing out the code when I have more time :)

haha no jumpscares! Just a bit of anxiety with the second half of the music added. Thanks for playing!

Thank you! I had very limited amount of time unfortunately so I didn’t really have time to work on art, I figured the most I could really do with were my main mechanics and lighting/ music to accommodate it. Tried to go with a Stanley parable/ beginners guide vibe. Will definitely try your game after work today! :)

Thank you! I tried to implement combined words to help with feeling rushed but I was bouncing back and forth with adding a few more seconds vs it being too long of a dark screen for newcomers of the game. As for your question, yes, there is one last thing you can type after the screen you got to after never*****

Major hint/ spoiler:  read the message in never***** and look up… if you’re still confused, look at the game description. Something should stand out ;)

Great visuals and interesting concept!

made it to the end!

Wow, this is honestly one of the more polished games I've seen in terms of mixing in a lot of art and mechanics together for the timeframe. I did run into some small bugs with boomerang, but honestly, for the timeframe, this was insanely well put together! Very artistic, love the aesthetic and the overall approach to the theme. I could see this being expanded to a full-fledged indie title. Great job and congrats on this awesome project! Hope y'all can get around trying mine out :)

I really wanted to get into this one. Unfortunately for me, the first puzzle wouldn't work as well, I clicked the dots in order and restarted the game, and it wouldn't work for me, unfortunately. But based on the art, sound design and dialogue, i can tell you put alot into this project, and i would love to give it another shot! from what i experienced, it was great work!

Got pops his beer and would loop back for one myself if i could, haha. I liked the creativity, especially the music transition to the sketchy dude.

Wow, this was super creative, and y'all did a great job giving everyone their own personality. Great narrative design and the UI was really well done! A very unique approach to the game jam!

Really neat submission. Physics is tricky, I liked the simple level art and character design!

GREAT atmosphere!

with what part? The start of it? There’s a hint in the screenshots

Thank you so much! Im happy you enjoyed it!

you beat it! I wanted to add more but I didn’t have anymore time :( and I thought leaving it this long was decent for the jam since there’s so many games. Thank you for playing! Your comment gave me a big smile :))

Artwork is dope, loved the music too. Very og shooter vibes with the art and movement style

Neat idea, was at the end of level 3 and all of a sudden spun infinitely to my death

That last level was driving me nuts haha, but I was able to beat it! Very straightforward, like the concept. Thanks for sharing

Woah this was insanely fun! Congrats on the build!

Like the idea! I was trying to build up an insanely high buildup but forgot I needed the momentum lol.

Neat idea, reminded me of the cabin factory!

Understood the assignment on the second lap, and jumped from 6 to 3rd. Not bad!

Thank you so much! I'm very happy you enjoyed the experience :)

I'm glad you enjoyed it! :)

Thank you bro :)

Super satisfying! Starts off a little slow, but once you get going, it's a literal Planetary snowball! Very simple and relaxing

If you saw the end screen, you made it to the end thank you for playing :)

This was super fun, loved the little animations, humor, and that music was dope! Premise was unique, I'd move this to my number 6 best boss fights because of the pizza haha. Congrats on uploading this!

Wow haha this was very impressive! I almost thought the first level was just it and kept playing.. loved the story! Congrats on the game! This was very creative
