Solid entry, especially for a solo dev! I really like the scope mechanic that you've implemented, though I wish the jumps had more oomph. Really cool and really well-rounded submission from the menu and ui to the gameplay. I can understand sacrificing hi-def textures in favor of keeping the game running smoothly, especially to have it run so smoothly in the web browser. Great job!

This game has an excellent start menu, I really like the mech hangar and can see the room for expansion and upgrades. The game itself is off to a good start, but could use a bit more juice. around 15 min in there was some kind of bug happening where the largest enemies stopped dealing damage and dropping xp, but other than that it handled decently and didn't lag, even with lots of enemies onscreen. Really great work so far and I bet it could become a launchable game with more time :)
I really like this one a lot! The art is cool and I like the little touches of detail in the background. The game could use a little more vfx (nice explosions!), maybe add some screen-shake, or other particle effects. I really like how many unlockables there are. I played 22 rounds trying to save up for the grenade launcher, but it seemed like the credits would stop rolling in halfway though the battle. not sure if this is a bug, or caused by the enemy advance. Great work, either way, it's a very cool prototype :)
Glad to hear you think so. My art always ends up looking cute and stylized, so this is probably the best direction. Thinking of a post-apocalyptic world where animals have evolved and taken our place, struggling to survive and protect their civilization from horrific science experiments left behind by humans—such as the kaiju carrots.
Wonderful pixel-art, interesting world building and very cool musical score! With more time and polish, I'm curious what this team could do to expand the gameplay and build the story. I could see this becoming a shippable title. Ps: I really liked the added touch of the music changer in the bottom-right. Great work, especially considering the 2 week deadline.
Not sure if this counts... Does anyone object to me adding an EXE option to try my game? There have been some issues with the Godot4 to HTML and I'm hoping a windows format will translate better. If I do this, I won't add any improvements or alterations... it will be the exact same game, just exported in a way that will hopefully result in less bugs. If there are any objections I understand and will wait until after the contest.
Thanks for trying my game, Konverex :) Yes, this has been quite frustrating, but I'm glad it got smoother as you played. Thank you very much for your compliments regarding the art. One of my friends was teasing me about the big feet and grenade launchers that looked like bunny ears. We laughed about it for a while, and she said "Wouldn't it be crazy if the kaiju were giant vegetables?". Sounded like a great idea :'D
Since you like the art, I'd like your opinion: Would you prefer to see human drivers or Sonic the Hedgehog-type characters as the villagers and pilots? The Jack Rabbit—the current mech—will have a female pilot named Slim, and I have some other characters in development including a burly pilot with a bear-themed mech.
Thanks for playing :) Yeah, the pause menu has settings for sfx, music, brightness, and contrast, but I won't have everything hooked up until after the contest. As for the lag, I'll see about adding a downloadable option (I won't change anything for now, just add another playable option). It worked really smoothly inside of Godot, but the HTML version didn't translate well.
Very cool, reminds me of some old arcade games I played as a kid. Plenty of things to blow up, lots of ammo pickups and very smooth considering the short work window we had. I encountered a bug which gave me infinite health, but that was a nice chance to explore the map and check things out. I especially liked the dialogue section in the beginning and the old-school cover art! Some more character interaction, story development, and specific mission parameters could make this a really cool game in the future!
Pretty cool concept. The mech art and world building stood out to me in the discord pages and it was cool to see the finished project. The AI was a bit buggy, and spamming the punch is a quick way to decimate the opponent, but with some minor changes I could see it being a very challenging and fun game! Everything looks great, and the voice acting was a cool touch.
What software did you use for the mechs and backgrounds?
Thanks, Misterm. as you mentioned, there are some meshes that didn't transfer properly between Godot4 and Itch.io, also the shadows disappeared. I'll see what I can do to fix this in future versions. The lag seemed to drastically reduce after I played the game a coupe of times, but there are probably many things I can do to improve the efficiency and reduce bloat.
Thank you for the review and the advice, I really appreciate it!
