Some levels that have alternate rulesets don't make that very clear when you first select them. Notifications for when numbers go to 5 instead of 6, for example, would be a nice addition.

Edit: Saw someone else did this below. I will say I ripped this straight from the game while it was running so it's not subject to human error, but it looks like they got everything right.
There are two stats that can affect "dreams" -- dream chance and nightmare chance. I'll be notating these by dreamChance/nightmareChance below.
Initially, these start at 0/6, but with the Enlightened class (unlocked by dying once and starting a new game from there), these are 16/4 (adjusted for starting Cosmic Insanity). The dreamcatcher applies 0/-30, and the dreamstone applies +20/0. Assuming you've bought both of these, these should be 20/-24 or 30/-34 as Enlightened.
For each Cosmic Insanity (the eye) you have, you gain +3/+4 to these numbers (and lose the same if it is negative). You can gain Cosmic Insanity by reading about the order's past in the library (+1); having your first nightmare (+1); in the Maze nighmare, wandering randomly twice, following the pull, and refusing to take the cube twice (+1); using the effigy you receive from Vael in exchange for the 682 sample to gain additional Cosmic Insanity on making a new character (+2); starting as Englightened (+2, mentioned above already); using an elixir of exertion (+1, 1 day only); or wearing pendant you can buy from Vael (+1).
Dreams are the last thing the game checks for happening on any given night. Finding Yuumi, Nyxa's third night, and being blessed by your patron all take priority over dreams/nightmares.
Dream and nightmare chance are capped at +50/+50. You have a dream chance% chance of getting a dream when you go to bed if one is valid, and a nightmare chance% chance of getting a nightmare. Each dream and nightmare can only happen once.
To max your dream chances, use the following step by step guide.
- Bring Vael the Feragon to unlock the 682 job.
- Bring Vael the 682 sample and get the effigy.
- Die by any means.
- Use Vael's Effigy to increase your starting Cosmic Insanity, and select the Enlightened class. Your character will start with 22/12 odds.
- Read about the order's history in the library. Odds = 25/16.
- Find ways to pass time and make money while waiting for both the base and maze nightmares. The base nightmare will ALWAYS happen first. Odds = 31/24.
- Buy the dreamstone. You can do this while waiting for the nightmares, as it won't affect your odds of getting them. After doing so, your odds should be 51(50)/24, but you'll not have any nightmares left.
Here's a list of all dreams and the ways they can become possible. I am not disclosing the contents of these dreams here, as that's for the player to find.
- Take the wolf girl home.
- Let the wild wolves take the wolf girl with them. (BUGGED -- keeping her awake will NOT add this dream)
- Impregnate the wolf girl.
- Begin the Azri contract.
- Begin Vael's Feragon contract.
- Have sex with the day fury.
- Impregnate the day fury.
- Impregnate the Wolyrn.
- Use the deer pheromones on the deer OR take her antlers OR force yourself on her while she is awake.
- Have sex with Naafiri.
- Successfully heal the wyvern.
- Tell Nyxa the truth about not killing everything and invite her on some hunts. To do this, on the third day of the Nyxa romance (the day she is depressed), talk to her and ask about what's going on. Make sure you've built up enough affection with Nyxa before this, and don't force yourself on her.
- Have no valid dreams. This is the "insect dream".
Yeah, I see how that could be annoying. Since there isn't a definite list, the best I can do is check everything manually within the HTML and see what comes out from there.
Currently, I don't see anything that can change the number of breasts a player has, or anything that checks how many breasts the player has. However, the number of breasts is stored, so there might be plans to do something with that in the future.
As for udders, there are technically 3 options: None (default), Cow, and Blob. "Blob" is the game's internal name for "Kindred of Grease", and you can gain the mutagen through eating Mystery Meat or letting the white jelly do its thing in the Caldera.
I don't think the player can change to match certain sexual encounters, and without the debug menu or save editing, there's no way to add or remove a penis or vagina to an already existing character.
For tails, you'll be relieved to hear that indeed, you can have multiple tails! This only applies for fox tails, and the status message changes as you gain more of them. In order to gain them efficiently, I think you can use Dreamweaving and focus on tails. The menu says it's unfinished, but I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work.
What exactly are you looking to change? There's a statue in the meadow that apparently toggles whether or not you have breasts, and you can change the gender marker next to your name by consulting yourself at any time.
If you're looking to change whether or not you have a penis/vagina, the only in-game way to do that appears to be through the debug menu. Save editing works as expected from what I can tell, though. Looks like non-human genitals aren't set up for use at the moment, but the files indicate there may be future plans to change these.
I was going to say there shouldn't be anything to stop you from finding her again, but on line 5595, if blairquest > 1, then she should be a somewhat frequent spawn. The issue is the check is for if blairquest is >, not >=. This can be fixed by talking to Maeve (the bartender) about blair, in which case the flag will increment by 0.25, letting her spawn again.
Alternatively, you can try to hunt Blair with Nico, which you can do from the dialogue menu with him anywhere (despite the inherent strangeness in going to hunt Blair immediately from the fishing boat). This only requires that you've met Blair at all, apparently, so it should be fairly accessible.
In case neither of those options work, you can edit your save to set blairquest to 1.01, which should resolve the issues.
While in the Swamp, it seems to be possible to reset your relationship with Delphi by re-doing the quest where she asks for wogen-weed. This is due to the helpingdelphi flag being set to "flase" rather than "false" on line 7687. For existing saves, a Twine save editor can be used to circumvent this issue.
NOTE: This appears to be fixed per v0.24.0 changelogs, though public build is on 0.23.2 as of time of writing.
When Kip asks for a hug, hugging her will result in the standard hug dialogue where you ask if she wants a hug, rather than fulfilling her request. In index.html, this is due to an error on line 6985, where the result of the check to prompt Kip for a hug neither checks if the flag KipReacts has been set, nor sets it to "hug". In addition, an error on line 26513 checks for the flag kiphug is "kipninitiated", which would prevent the text from displaying. I've fixed both of these in my downloaded version.
I think the above person installed the game through the itch.io app, rather than downloading it through the website. Installing it through the app does nothing, and gives an empty folder; downloading it functions normally.
Also, the key can be obtained without paying for it presently, due to the ongoing dispute with Stripe. It might be worth considering adding an alternative method of obtaining it.
I have used the built in itch.io update button, and see the new shell script in the files, but am not getting any new items. Is there something I need to do to get these?
EDIT: Looking at the patch notes and seeing that I got saw on a first round with 2 health, it's not the update. Don't trust the update button!
The problem with this train of thought, as I alluded to, is that the person who also came up with the idea of the Redd Manor, if they are Roddio, is someone I don't think they'd want to associate with, hence the lack of a link to back it up directly. Dorking is a skill that can be learned, but also used responsibly. It's entirely possible to uncover confidential information with it.
As for file digging, I've mentioned before -- it's given me information as to who the "traitor" was. And, well... I think I finally get it.
The traitor is Nerus, and here lies my argument.
When Alessia gets a strange dream, she sees a ring of fire. What else looked like a ring of fire? His eyes.
What's the name of the thing that is taunting the traitor? Pyr. That is a pretty close resemblance to the word root "pyro", which is related to fire (as in pyromanic, pyromancer, etc.)
What was the traitor's skin like? Charred.
And who had the power to engulf themselves in flames? Nerus, again, when he burned away his body to fully use his prowess.
The last part is the one you don't have access to without digging through files, usually. In it, the 5th dream (with later context) can be interpreted to mean that someone was meeting void creatures (like Noch) once again ("we all meld together out here" being similar to how Noch describes the feeling to Aloys). Who do we know that's relatively recently been introduced to the void? Nerus.
Even the timeline itself lines up with this. If the objective, as the traitor has proposed, is to help them get back their memories -- why is it happening? My thoughts are so Nerus is caught up on what is going on in the world at the time Obli manages to bring him back, which is presumably the event that occurs at the end of the timeline. Thus, this is all happening in the blink of an eye. Nerus's past before Obli was less important to either of them than afterwards -- for that matter, it might be easier if it was entirely forgotten. Therefore, the timeline starts with Nerus's memories, and everything afterwards is helping him catch up on current events.
This opens the question as to why Pyr wants to keep the traitor guessing, and my theory is once the traitor remembers who they are, they are restored to their reality. Pyr probably gains something in keeping them there, which justifies his goals and actions.
As for the new character -- that was a random surprise. I guess it makes sense that we'd get another shifter working with Ren, but I wonder if this is the same one that contacted Obli with the plan.
I also wonder if Obli continues to talk to Samael at all. It doesn't look like we'll get to see his POV for a little while, but I think that Obli's talks with Samael were in the top moments of the novel, and I took a lot of great lines from there, guidance for myself.
Actually, Fanatic, if you want to get in contact, I was thinking of getting into video essays recently. We could try to set up something to work together, I might not have as much time in the future but I'd be happy to work with you on it. To be honest, I want to do a full rundown of how I got all of the evidence in here, but some of it takes way too long to explain (as you might guess from the length of this).
Here's something that hit me by surprise while I was doing some light google dorking on this.
The main mention of the Redd Manor is the development in the Philipines. Given the nature of the project, a "condotel" (condominium/hotel) it's pretty easy to dismiss this as being relevant.
I did some digging, and found one other example. However, given the nature of the controversy surrounding said person, as well as the apparent maturity they show in posts, I'll be willing to believe candidate one is... at minimum, 23 by now. This would also mean that the person in question underwent some sharp changes in ideology and behavior, leading me to believe that option one is out of the question.
The second option is from DeviantArt, but is also far-fetched. After some searching, I found no unusual activity that can connect anything to here. That leaves The Redd Manor as almost definitely being a creation of the author.
Seeing how far you currently are in the story, I won't post too many spoilers here. However, I don't think it's likely the Redd Manor is the location in question.
My reason? A pseudonym used later on in the story by an unrelated character is "Mr. Redd." This is content that is new to 0.11, which I missed as I was out of the loop on this novel for a while.
That was the reason I started that googling again, and how I found the additional results for "Redd Manor".
Found a minor language bug in 1.6.2 that has me playing on 1.6.1 right now, out of preference. A particular end-of-day scene with the wolf (one of the common ones) frequently uses the term "Wolf he/she" to refer to the character. While I appreciate the term, it's a break with the flow of the writing. If nobody else thinks it's an issue, don't worry about it tbh
I did work out it's not difficult to play with right-hand only, and made a little easier if you're willing to use software like SharpKeys to map right-control to Escape (it's the only missing "control" on the right side of the keyboard). You can also map a similarly uncommon key within close reach to it.
Pretty fun game! Dealer is somewhat exploitable, as I will describe, but still fun. Spoilers to those who don't want them-
- Will always use handcuffs if at least 2 bullets left, exploitable when all bullets left are blanks.
- Will (frequently) use beer if it's guaranteed the next bullet is a blank, provided it's not the last bullet.
- If dealer uses beer, Dealer appears to not account for ejected bullets in their decision making, unless only 2 bullets are left.
- If the dealer uses glass, then beer, they will use all beer at once.
Exploits generally make the AI fun to play around, if a little formulaic at times. The new mode is very enjoyable, due to having plenty of random items on round 1, which can be a game killer in round 1. Above exploits combined with the ability to go first make this mode much more consistent.
