I see your point of view, you like your game the way it is and don't want to ruin it. Though you think it'll detract from the experience trust me it won't. The majority of gamers like having something to strive for & listen to in a videogame. Now If I were you, I would add in music and upgrades, but have an option to turn them on or off.
