Hey triptych! We haven't explored the itchio app yet, but thank you for letting me know our software is not compatible. I'll be sure to look into that and the Electron app you recommended. There are a couple ticks with the software we are using, the load just takes and extra click to progress (for some reason). The sword training pushes the software really hard, but usually works as long as you don't click and drag the strikezone. Will look into it either way. Glad you are enjoying the game overall!! Hopefully our next build will help with some of those issues you are having. Cheers and thank you for playing! (=

Hi I understand you are using TyranoBuilder - it's probably something they need to do, potentially. I posted a comment on the steam support forum for tyranobuilder about it.

However if there is an HTML out version of your game you can wrap it in Electron very easily: (main site ) (note that article is like 2 years old so it's way faster and more advanced now. Clients like Slack use electron to wrap their HTML app.)

I created an issue report on the github about this

Hey, thanks for reporting! I'm looking into it :)

Which version of itch were you seeing issues with? I'm able to install & run it fine, both with and without the sandbox.

I went to the tab with the game. Here's a screenshot:

After I clicked the "launch" button, I got a Node WebKit window for a moment, then this error window shows up:

The URL it was trying to load: "data:text/html;charset=utf-8,%3Chtml%3E%0A%3Chead%3E%0A%3Ctitle%3ECannot%20run%20package%3C%2Ftitle%3E%0A%3Cstyle%3E%0A*%7B%20margin%3A%200%3B%20padding%3A%200%3B%7D%0A%0Abody%20%7B%0A%20%20overflow%3A%20hidden%3B%0A%7D%0A%0Ap%2C%20h1%20%7B%0A%20%20display%3A%20inline-block%3B%0A%20%20margin-left%3A%20100px%3B%0A%20%20color%3A%20%23333%3B%0A%20%20font-family%3A%20sans-serif%3B%0A%7D%0A%0A%23clouds%7B%0A%20%20padding%3A%20100px%200%3B%0A%20%20background%3A%20%23c9dbe9%3B%0A%20%20background%3A%20-webkit-linear-gradient(top%2C%20%23c9dbe9%200%25%2C%20%23fff%20100%25)''%3B%0A%20%20position%3A%20absolute%3B%20%0A%20%20background%3A%20%23fff%3B%0A%20%20width%3A%20100px%3B%20height%3A%2080px%3B%0A%20%20position%3A%20absolute%3B%20top%3A%20-15px%3B%20left%3A%2010px%3B%0A%20%20%0A%20%20-webkit-border-radius%3A%20100px%3B%0A%20%20-webkit-transform%3A%20rotate(30deg)"

So Node Webkit is trying to load the game, but it for some reason is showing this error. I'm guessing it's because the exe is getting run, but the folder context is lost somehow and cannot run the game. This is in Windows 10.

Ah, I get it now! I was trying to run the *other* Faulty Apprentice.

I'm able to reproduce the issue. Here's what I can gather so far:

  • The bug only happens on *first* start-up (subsequent starts work fine)
  • On first startup, the game logs contain an error (not being able to initialize the web db)
  • The directory where the game is launched is definitely correct (the itch app handles that correctly) - but I suspect the TMP/TEMP environment variables might be the problem.
I think it's just an occurence of - I'll fix it in the next version of the app, which should be out soon!
