Your kit adds a bonus to a check when it's relevant. Say you want to smash down a door before the enemy arrives. Sounds like a check! Roll 2d6, add 'em up, add your Might, and add 1 from your Tideframe (because it's a big strong mecha suit and is helpful when smashing down doors). If you get 8 or better, you successfully smash down the door before the enemy arrives!
