It still doesnt appear after sleeping... I am playing on windows. Should I send you the save file?
Yup! The save file would make it much easier for me to track down and fix. You can find it at-
C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Roaming\CandlebookIsland
Where YOURNAME is is the login name. The file is
auto.sav
I don't know if you can attach files here, but you can email it to me at hello@riddlefox.com
Thanks in advance! Sorry this happened to you
Hello! So this is odd....
I could not find CandlebookIsland in my AppData/Roaming.
When I launch Candlebook Island via itch.io, it runs fine.
However, when I opened it in the folder itself, I got this error.
Error
states/game.lua:114: attempt to index local 'p' (a nil value)
Traceback
states/game.lua:114: in function 'update'
engine/states.lua:50: in function 'update'
main.lua:46: in function 'update'
[C]: in function 'xpcall'
I hope this is illuminating. I don't know why it would not launch by itself and I don't know where the save file is hiding.
Sorry for the few days gap in the response- I tried replicating the error, but haven't been able to yet. I did install via itch.io. Can you check to see if there is a LOVE/CandleBookIsland folder in your AppData/Roaming? The save file might be in there!
If not, I'll still try and repeat the error and see if I can fix it.
I'm trying to think of any other possible location, but that's where it should be stored. Is there a Monsterheart folder, maybe?
And I'm looking into that error, here's a thought- can you just download the zip file from the website, extract it, and run it by itself, and let me know if that gives you an error? And not from the launcher. Thank you! Sorry this is such a problem for you
I just released an update of the game that should fix this, let me know if that is the case. If nothing else, it will fix the blue screen of death you see when launching the game from the itch.io folder, and not from the itch launcher itself. But it should fix both issues. Please let me know! Thank you for being patient with me while I try and fix it
