Oh, and that weird bug was an old system font that managed to have a bug in it and never got updated. I installed the current Lato font and now I can see all those spaces.
But still, even if they now take up 1 character on my screen, they still take up 6 characters of storage space. On character limited boxes like 5000 charactes for profile, that might be important.
