THE FUNNY THING IS KATRA DOES LOVE AANG AND THE LAST KISS AT THE END WAS CONSENSUAL

EVEN THOUGH THAT LITERALLY DOESNT EVEN MAKE ANY SENSE

IT WOULD MAKE MORE SENSE FOR KATARA TO SEE AANG AS A YOUNGER FRIEND OR SOMETHING BUT LIKE- BRUH

ITS ACTUALLY FUNNY TO THINK ABOUT HOW DUMB THEIR RELATIONSHIP IS

It's so forced, it's badly done, and it doesn't even make sense thematically. There is a whole episode focused on the fact that Aang has to let Katra go, I'm not even exaggerating, A WHOLE EPISODE DEDICATED TO DESTROYING THE MAIN RELATIONSHIP OF THE ENTIRE SHOW AND ITS STILL ENDGAME ANYWAY BRUH

And even worse, Aang doesn't even really love Katara. He loves the IDEA of Katara.

He loves HIS VIEW of Katara. But he doesn't love her.

I think a good way to describe his "love" for her. Puppy love. He doesn't see Katara, he sees his dream forever girl.

This is shown pretty well in the episode where Katara goes off to find the man who killed her mom. And I have so much to say about this, I could talk for hours about how garbage all of it is and about how it's honestly upsetting that arguably the worst ship of the show is the one that's canon.

But I feel like you already get the point so I'll just shut up and rewatch the show in peace trying my best not to let one dumb annoying thorn ruin my beautiful rose that is AtLA. It's F I N E

Aang doesn't love her

He sees her as just a thing

Like-

How you may love a certain item or something

But you don't love love said thing

Am I getting that right?

OMG AHHHH

Katara has always been there for Aang as a beacon of comfort in dark times. She's also very protective of him. Aang sees Katara through rose colored glasses because she's been a sort of wall for him to lean on, a home to go to for warmth, a pillar, but this is to the point where Aang outright dismisses any behavior that doesn't match his rose colored view.

Everytime Katara gets angry or anything of the sort he either isn't sure how to react or dismisses it entirely. He loves his rose tinted Katara... but he doesn't love Katara.

As well as the fact that Aang can always lean on Katara and vent to him... but you don't often see Katara venting to Aang. He's receiving most of the emotional support in the relationship. It's more like a mother-son relationship than anything.

I'm gonna be honest... I feel bad for Katara. She ended up with someone who doesn't see her for her. I can only hope that he stopped seeing her like that later on in their relationship...

And the episode... THE EPISODE. The Southern Raiders is an episode where Katara goes off to find the man who killed her mother and get her revenge. How does Aang react? By dismissing and invalidating her feelings and it's portrayed as some sort of wise guru stuff even though it's only making her feel like he doesn't understand her. That sounds like a healthy relationship, I'm sure.

You know who validated her emotions? You know who understood her and helped her? ZUKO.

At teh end of the episode- SHE LITERALLY GIVES AANG THE COLD SHOULDER AND GIVES FUCKING ZUKO A HUG

SHE WAS ANGRY AT HIM (Zuko) NOT LONG AGO BTW SO IMAGINE THAT

SHE JUST TREATED AANG, THE DUDE SHES SUPPOSEDLY IN LOVE WITH, COLDLY AND TURNED AROUND AND GAVE ZUKO, THE FIRE NATION PRINCE WHO SHE HATED A WHILE AGO, A HUG-

HOW IS KATAANG ENDGAME WHEN THIS IS HOW THINGS ARE GOING IN THEIR RELATIONSHIP FOR THE LAST HALF OF SEASON 3

you know, I think a really good Kataang analysis is done in this video right here, it's a zutara video that I watched out of curiosity, but she brought up some of the best points I've ever heard and even voiced my very own thoughts that I just couldn't find the words to explain. You have to watch it:

I'm honestly just really happy someone finally said something about just how bad Kataang is. And she's also very respectful which is so nice cause I personally have a very hard time keeping my cool when I feel strongly about something, even though I never really mean to be rude, I just tend to state my points really aggressively.
