Just read this… It is proper grammar if you read it “and (acquired) our hearts,” for the verb chosen relates to both sections of the sentence and not just the votes part. I try to write correct sentences however confusing they may be. Punctuation is where you might be able to hang me because it always confuses me which to use and when.
