Well that's an unexpected addition, but rather interesting. Though all the outfits are locked to start with, which is certainly a shame, hrm...
My mistake, I usually let new outfits stay unlocked for a bit. Not that they are that difficult to unlock. Just beat any of their other outfits once.
You can copy over the "saves" folder from your old install into the new one to keep your unlocks in the new version.
