Hi guys, HoodyP here!

I'm pretty new in the indie game development scene tbh... But lemme introduce myself briefly! I am a weird monochromatic Meltus thing who does multiple projects, especially regarding vocal synths such as UTAU, SynthV and others! I draw, composed songs/music and also interested in AI projects! Currently I'm in an art college working out on the final 3 weeks in my first year before finally becoming free from it for at least about a year... Any who yello there!

Now let's get straight to the point to something that I have been trying to work on for a VERY long time actually... This game project, what I currently called as "Sen Planszetka", is a passion project of mine, and it is in fact an RPG Maker horror game with gameplay mechanics similar to that of Ib or Yume Nikki, but with visual aesthetics that are reminiscent to that of western animated CGI movies and video games that contain some sort of non-human character, but mainly the Ratchet and Clank game series.

So what exactly is the game? What is it about... Well here is a brief synopsis of my weird game:

Takes place in a small apartment in Osaka, Japan, in an alternate 2017, a young human boy who wears a chocolate bunny hat, named Natsumi Kadenko, have constant nightmares of a weird looking fluffy white creature resembling him, killing himself with an exacto knife and it was unknown why was the creature upset and decided to kill himself. After waking up from the nightmare, it turns out that the white fluffy creature was apparently an "imaginary friend" of Natsumi's, an older bunny/fox-like humanoid pierrot clown named "Nitch Ratterson". Said imaginary friend was with him for a while but it was unknown why he never really leaves Natsumi, despite Natsumi already became 14 at the time and Nitch had been with him since Natsumi was 5. Either way, Natsumi is always pessimistic about his surroundings, his imaginary friend, and his life overall, constantly going on his laptop online, watching videos of people criticizing animated movies, doing his paper collage art as a way to make him "remotely" happy and looking out the window while eating store bought Melonpan and ramen. Despite Natsumi being all alone in the apartment after his mom went out for a "long vacation", other than going out from his house to buy groceries, Natsumi hated going outside and socialize with people around him, as he felt better being a seclusive hikikomori than anything... Seeing this as a problem, Natsumi's older cousin, Hoshikage Noboru would advise him on certain aspects of life almost constantly through messaging through Natsumi's phone, though usually Natsumi would give up mid conversation and ignore him for a day before checking his messages again... One day, Hoshikage told Natsumi regarding a "dream therapy app" known as "Planszetka", which is used to cure people with social issues by putting them into a virtual reality space known as the "Planszetka Plane" through the users' own private server. Seeing this as an interesting opportunity for something new to experience, Natsumi agreed to download the app, register as a user and make a private server for himself with the help of Hoshikage. After night falls, Natsumi put on his headphones as instructed by Hoshikage, and went to sleep with the white noise echoing through his ears... To Natsumi's surprise, he appears in his room, but things were misplaced or discolored, creeping Natsumi's out a bit, until he hears some calliope music playing by the window... After looking through the window, he finds out there was a whole big bright carnival at the bottom... With no other choice, Natsumi jumps out the window, and that's where everything begins...

I have most of the first act planned out already but I don't wanna spoil much about it... Anyway yeah, it's long but it should give some sort of overview of what my game would be like :P. So, I have been working on the game for quite some time and have started using RPG Maker 2003 to develop my game (initially, I used RPG Maker MV, but sadly the pixel size and some other factors really doesn't fit the aesthetic I wanted for my game, so I've decided to land on 2003 instead!). Considering that I have to leave for college soon as I'm writing this, here are some screenshot images and concept art I have done about my game so far!

That's all for now... currently busy with college so... Maybe once the three weeks is up and I'm done with my college's first year, M A Y B E I could finally work on my game again and further develop it... Expecting to release a demo ver sometime soon I hope! Catch ya later!

“Sen Planszetka” sounds very Eastern-European. Just add a little oriental vibe, and you’ve created a whole new country-and-eastern -genre.

Actually there was a reason why I called my game the way it is... Despite that the "real world" takes place in Japan, most of the main game takes place in the "dream" space and the lore of said space has influences from bunch of different cultures (as I wanted it to be like a psuedo internet world thing...), especially the "dream" space having a Polish-influenced lore (As "Sen Planszetka" is supposed to be a Polish translation of "Dream Planchette/Board" but with a "-ka" in the end to make it a more weirder name) and characters that are from different regions in the world. I also wanted my game to give off a very "aesthetically very weird and weirdcore ridden" vibe which I took most inspiration from Madoka Magica, some of Satoshi Kon's films (Perfect Blue, Paprika, Paranoia Agent), Cat Soup, Popee the Performer, Dreaming Mary, and mainly Yume Nikki (which is also where I got the inspiration for the naming convention from as "Yume Nikki" means "Dream Diary" in Japanese)... So yeah, as much as I wanted find another name I could title my game... I felt like "Sen Planszetka" is so far the most suitable name I can give it...

Speaking of which, originally the game was gonna be called "Velmentia", named after an area in the Ratchet and Clank game, "Planet Veldin", and the word "dementia", but I feel like that's too on the nose to the R&C games and I wanted my game to be a whole different experience from it...

Anyways thanks for the suggestion and I'll try add something oriental in my game soon!
