so when i press f11 to exit fullscreen something happens but it doesn't exit fullscreen, could there eventually be a setting that forces it into windowed?
Yeah this game needs a windowed setting, If f11 isn't working you can try launching the .exe through your command line with -ResX=1280 -ResY=720 -WINDOWED, which should open a 1280x720 window, which worked for me.
