Being able to target the base on the compass would be great. I can sometimes tag Alexander and it points to base but only sometimes.
Get a beacon and place it in your base. Beacon is the 1st item from the bottom in the shop. Activate it (you'll have to do it again after leaving the game), and you'll have a marker on your HUD pointing at the beacon.
You can point the compass to the base by targeting root,Alternatively following the river is usually pretty reliable as well
