Is there a way to get the crystal that prohibits the education off your desk when you teach, or are you stuck with it on your desk, or is it something you need to unlock something.

Right, the crystal that you buy from the merchant in the field is to reduce the education level weekly drop.
It drops 5 points every week, with the crystal is 4.
You can't remove it once you bought it, but you don't really have a reason to remove it.
If your education levels aren't rising is because you're using powers, you're not supposed to use powers.
