Great style for a horror game. 40 minutes for all endings.

My playthrough:

(SPOILERS BELOW)

My thoughts on the game:

  • The game contains almost too many jumpscares, they start to become very old and predictable.
  • The jumpscares are fairly cheap. A monster appearing out of nowhere in the same exact way everytime makes the game a lot less scary. Rather, a monster chasing you from a reasonable spot, one where you expect a monster to be in, just to jumpscare you as it gets close would make a lot more sense and be a lot scarier (as you know it's avoidable).
  • The game is too unpredictable when it comes to objectives. Why does drinking coke allow you to be immune to the "monster" in one particular spot, but not the other? Why does only clicking on a particular spot on the car which you are unlikely to venture to give you the prompt to sleep? Why is there a coin specifically there? Why do you get jumpscared by straying too far? So many questions, all of which add up to that 40 minute playtime.
  • The coin is really hard to see.
  • Why does the game ridicule you, yet doesn't give you the option to call the authorities after witnessing blood going into the forest (which would be the obvious first choice)?
  • The intro is very long, I wish there was a skip option.
  • The graphics are great, good job on that!
  • The suspense by going into the Forest was great, I just wish it wouldn't have just been a jumpscare, but something scarier.

Overall, while the game is by all means an easter egg hunt, it was fairly enjoyable and different to other itch.io games. Awesome job!
