I reached the oil pump refinery and the factory, watching an irritant alien flying around and lagging the game, then, the game crashed.
The game need a lot of improvements and tutorials. Also, I prefer the old screen, this new one with windows is not good, it lack by occupying the whole screen and disorganizing everything.
Also, the humans need to be priorized for something, because they start one thing, leave it to start another one and never finish anything.
Did you have unlimited faith?
Faith makes your humans stupid and ignorant, thus wont progress to a stage where they will build a rocket.
I love the game not having a tutorial and letting you work it out for yourself. The achievements are enough in themselves. The feeling I got when I finally found coal or how to make a volcano was awesome!

I agree with you. After feedback the dev has kindly added options for transparent windows and to remember window position from one game to the next.. Just go to options in the main menu (make sure you have the lates version of the game 1.4.14).
