Jumping Obstacles is broken

Jumping Obstacles is a great idea, althgouh I feel like it's broken. I can have creatures make jumps all the time up to 2m in jumping mode, but when the same creatures get the obstacle problem, it's like they try to do something when the ball comes but ultimately decide it's best to just stand still after 50+ generations.

What I think is wrong with the algorithm is that jumping should still be considered "better" than standing still, even if the obstacle is hit.

I also created creatures where I could observe some stepping over the obstacle, so right foot (and then it crashed into the left foot). But they didn't make it to the next generation, and they were not considered the best. Something's off here. Impact time with obstacle and jumping should be rewarded, are they?

Has anyone made a creature that is capable of jumping over obstacles?
