I may be entirely off base here, but is this perhaps a commentary on (or reference to) a radio with guts by bukowski?

It's actually a reference/commentary on "Sporting Life," by Jack Spicer. But I'll check out the Bukowski!

Frankly it's not that noteworthy and this is honestly a much better piece to draw from. My brain is fantastic at inferring patterns that don't really exist and it gets in the way sometimes.
I feel like I understand the intention a lot more clearly now with this context, thank you!
