Bots are named when you give them a Name Badge and then update the name on the Name Badge.  If you later put the bot into a Worker Storage, the bot will leave the Name Badge outside of the Worker Storage and its name will return to one such as "BB001" that it had originally.  The Name Badge that was left outside of the Worker Storage still has the updated name on it, so if you give that Name Badge to a bot, it will get that updated name.

i know but i had 3 in line for 1 activity then they got renaned and now i cant find them i have 50 bots round about but there up to 250

If you have 50 bots or 250 bots and you cannot find 3 of them, I suggest that you spend the time to give all of your bots names that will help you find them in the future.  Bots' names are at most 10 characters long.  I set up a naming convention for my bots as follows:

Bots are grouped by their task.  Some bots make tools.  Some bots harvest resources.  Some bots store harvested resources into bins.  Some bots plant the harvested resources.  Some bots prepare foods.  Some bots do things for folks.  Some bots recharge other bots.  Some bots shout commands to other bots.

For the bots that make tools and the bots that harvest resources, I have simply named them as the tool that they make or the resource they harvest.  If there are more than one bot making the same tool or doing the same task, I have a number following the tool name or the task name.  For example, I have 7 bots that fish for salmon, and so I have named them "Fish1" through "Fish7".

For the bots that store the harvested resources and the bots that plant the harvested resources, I have named them to indicate the resource and what is done with it, followed by a number.  For example, I have 3 bots that collect the salmon that were caught by bots "Fish1" through "Fish7" and put them into the salmon storage bin, and so I have named them "Fish>Stor1" through "Fish>Stor3".

Similarly, I have a large number of bots that work with Cereal Seeds that come from the threshing machine.  Some bots put them into storage bins and are named such as "CerS>Stor1".  Some bots put them into windmills and are named such as "CerS>Mill1".  Some bots plant them back into the soil and are named such as "CerS>Soil1".

The bots that prepare foods are named based on the foods that they make.  For example, I have four groups of bots that make Apple Pies.  To make the Apple Pies, I first need bots that make Pastries and then bots that make Raw Apple Pies, and then bots that make the Apple Pies, and finally bots that store the Apple Pies.  There are four groups of Pastry making bots that add Butter, bots that add Flour, and bots that add Water, which I have named such as "Pastry1B", "Pastry1F", and "Pastry1W" respectively.  The four groups of bots that make the Raw Apple Pies, make the Apple Pies, and store the Apple Pies in storage bins are named such as "APieRaw1", "ApplePie1", and "APie>Stor1" respectively.

The bots that do thing for folks are named based on the area where the folk live, which I have called neighborhoods.  These bots do various thing for the folk such as taking them to wash bins for cleaning, returning them home are they have been cleaned, taking their dirty cloths to wash bins for cleaning, drying their cleaned clothes, returning their clean clothes to them, feeding them, cleaning their dirty soup pots, sweeping up the dirt they make while eating, and winding bots that need recharging.  Below is an image of neighborhood "N1" showing these bots.

Having your bots named using a method such as this can help you to quickly find any bot.  You can get all 100 of your folk to be extremely happy at the same time by having your bots well-named and well-organized.  Good luck.
