A lot of people have posted good advice already, I'd like to add that participating in a small community (be it local or online) is a great way to go! I think a big issue with feeling lost in the crowd these days is that as game creators we're addressing the whole internet, which is way too big. Game jams can be one way to get an audience, as they'll usually have a community built in that tries to play each other's games. You can also look to see if there is a local game developer group in your area, and that can be really motivating. There are also online communities that often spring up around podcasts, or fandoms for other games (toby fox started making games in a fan community for homestuck). Good luck to you! The first games that anyone makes aren't our best, I'm sure you'll create many great games if you stick with it.
