Rei was escorted into the dance room by one of the maids a little while later. He had been groomed and cleaned, and his fur and hair were all glossy and soft. His ears were perked up and he was talking to the woman. Daniel caught a snippet of their conversation.

"But I don't want to get to know him! I-I don't even know where I am-"
???:"Erickson manor. In Blywood, the capital city. But you won't get very far outside the manor. You're lucky...in here you're taking care of. Out there, you'll be lucky if you're not put down within the week.
"...P-put...down-y-you don't mean-"
???:"I'm afraid so. The world is not kind to us..."
