I don’t think there’s such an option available, but I could be wrong.

I have a passion project and I don’t want people donating me money, with illusions, that it will increase my development speed

I like to think that in the indie world, donations are to support devs, and not to make them work faster. My suggestion would be, as you mentioned, to include all the details in the description. Make sure to be clear about what the project is about, and if there will be any change if more people donate.

At the end of the day, donations are always “no strings attached”. Otherwise they wouldn’t be donations, but bought labor.

Thank you for your answer.

It's very unfortunate, that itch.io doesn't have this feature. I'm quite positive, that most developers would benefit from it (A pre- and post donation message, that is), but well...

And I too like to think of donations as real donations, but I'm pretty sure, that there will always be people expecting you to churn out more content in less time and the last thing, I want to do, is give people the wrong impression.

So I have one last question, since you have a mod tag:

Can you move this thread to the ideas and feedbacks-section please?

Or would you recommend me to make a new thread?

I wholeheartedly believe, that every developer would like this feature.

Thank you again for your answer.

People will always demand more, as a creator it’s up to you to define limits. If donations are only to support your ideas without affecting the speed that you work with, then so be it. It’s perfectly reasonable for an indie dev to do so.

As long as you are not promising faster results, you should not feel pressured to deliver faster. Just be yourself and let your creativity flow through your creations at your own pace :)

I moved the thread to Ideas & Feedback. It should appear at the top, similarly to when you post a new question.
