Hi,
I bought Bonbon yesterday after seeing a positive review on RockPaperShotgun. To be honest I just read a few sentences of it as after reading that it's a short story I didn't want to spoil any of it. But unfortunately I was not able to finish it... yet
If you haven't played the game, you probably shouldn't read further as it might contain some (mild?) spoilers. TLDR is that it has no continue option and bugs forcing you to restart the game. Not to sound like I didn't like the game - except the bugs it looked very promising so far. And scary.
On the first try, the game thought that I put a ring in the box whereas I missed it. As looking for the last ring involved looking in dark areas, we (me and my wife) decided to come back to the game later - we are extremely sensitive to horror, after playing through Penumbra, we turn off Amnesia 5 minutes into the tutorial ;). One of the reasons we decided to give Bonbon a spin was that we might sustain the dread if it's short enough. Well, Bonbon is scary, so we turned it off to find out later that there is no continue option.
OK, so we started once again a bit later, but after putting all rings in the box, the game did not trigger the search for those small cubes, so we were stuck in the room playing with the toys.
Bad luck. On the next try we reached the dinner, but after feeding Bonbon with half of the cake, he got stuck waiting for more and didn't want to get angry as on one of the youtube videos we sas to check if we missed something. Getting stuck with Bonbon at the table is not fun at all, I prefer the previous option, endless play with the toys ;).
Last restart - and I accidentally pushed the last ball under the Bonbon with no way of retrieving it. Grrr!
Is there any chance of fixing it? I understand that the author is a single, independent developer and that it's so short I can restart it again (which I will probably do, tomorrow) but I would really appreciate if I could face the horrors of the game, not the bugs.
Greetings
Mateusz
