This is one of our old projects resurrected from the game. Currently, there's only 1 person handling this project for the jam.

BROKEN ACE

A RPG game where you live as an exiled hero in search for the answer of your exile. Travel away from your homeland of Saxonia to the distance land of Hazek, in a bid to find a new place to live. However, soon this episode of running away turn for a twist.

Features:

Turn-based RPG

An actually OP main character

Travel the world of Saxon and Hazek

Pre-Jam Progress:

Notes:

Pretty much the first public project made in RPG Maker for RIT. Assets are done using RPG Maker's assets for now.

The project has started for about a month ago, but never actually got developed further until this jam is around. Hopefully a playable demo will be available by the end of this jam. There are 2 finished areas and a third unfinished area before the project was halted prior to this continuation.

Screenshot will follow in the future.

For today, I watched this interesting youtube video:

Finally decided to utilize the Character Generator to make a new main character that fits the story better thanks to that video.

Done some tests with the gameplay and overall satisfied for now

Also looked up some plugins, but has not decided on them getting implemented into the game

Today, implemented several of Yanfly Engine’s plugin into the game. Should have found this thing faster. Would have changed a lot of the development process.

Changed the layout of the gameplay menu.

Renamed one of the characters back name. Cendrillion to Cindrella.

Added more story context for Marsha joining the party.

For today, finished the fifth (now fourth) area. Scrapped on area four for now. Finished on the demo and now begin on polishing. Aim for release at 28th of October if everything goes well.

Started trying to experiment with the plugins further. Changed some stuff to make it feels more polished.

For content, there will be three main bosses (area one, two, and four) and one optional boss (area two). Difficulty is somewhat skewed at the moment, with the final boss of the demo being very difficult without proper preparation, grinding, and some strategy making.

The final boss pretty much first experiment with cinematic-esque event. It is a fun learning experience to be honest and make the section lively.

Consider adding more content (weapons, armors) to allow more customizations.

Also started toying a bit with animations. Tried to make one of the spells having somewhat custom animation to make things more spicy.

Polished the final boss fight encounter and mark the end of DEMO section. This will be used as checkpoint for the DEMO release of the game (which is the aim for this jam).

Also implemented some more plugins and changed around their value. The new set of plugins look more wonderful than before. Added more shops, and of course more equipment. Since the last boss fight has a difficulty gap, created some decent equipment for the player to use.

Added some more equipment in, and modified some equipment stat. Remove a lock on main character’s weapon to allow room for customization.
